Today is World Vitiligo Day. 💜💜💜💜 My journey with vitiligo began at 10 years old, and now at 50, I can honestly say it has been one of the greatest teachers of my life. When I was diagnosed, my mother immediately began covering the vitiligo on my face with makeup. As it spread, I simply spread the makeup too. What started at 10 became part of my routine for the next 35 years. But when I decided to stop covering, God began uncovering purpose. He created opportunities I never could have planned for—opportunities to inspire, motivate, and encourage others to see that different is beautiful. What had simply been part of my life became part of my assignment. This journey has taught me that uniqueness is not something to apologize for—it’s something to honor. It has taught me that the very things that set us apart can also be the things that make us impactful. From walking in New York Fashion Week, to Times Square billboards, to now serving as a Global Vitiligo Ambassador, I’ve seen firsthand what can happen when you stop minimizing what makes you different and start walking fully in who you were created to be. I’ve learned that confidence isn’t about flawless skin—it’s about peace within the skin you’re in. And I’ve learned that trusting your uniqueness can unlock a kind of freedom, purpose, and power that no amount of covering ever could. So today, I honor every chapter of this journey—the 10-year-old girl learning to navigate a diagnosis, the woman who wore makeup on her face for 35 years, and the woman who now sees even more clearly how God would use her difference as part of the platform. He gave me this message the night before my 45th birthday: Different is beautiful. Trust your uniqueness. Your uniqueness is your superpower. Never try to fit in when you were meant to stand out. And I’m grateful that He has allowed me to walk in it. 💜 #WorldVitiligoDay #VitiligoJourney #VitiligoAwareness #DifferentIsBeautiful #TrustYourUniqueness #YourSuperpower #SelfAcceptance #GlobalVitiligoAmbassador #KonfidentInMySkin by @vitiligo_konfidence

🎉👑 HAPPY 23RD BIRTHDAY TO THEE ONE AND ONLY… KAHN POWELL II… THE PRINCE! 👑❤️ My baby boy is 23! 🥹❤️ The best day of my life was the day you entered this world and changed mine forever. You are my heart walking around outside my body, and our bond is UNBREAKABLE! ❤️ I am beyond proud of the young man you are becoming. Your discipline, determination, work ethic, and love for God inspire me. I’m especially proud of your courage to PIVOT, stay the course, and pursue your dream of becoming an engineer. Never mistake a pivot for a setback. Sometimes changing direction is exactly what it takes to reach your destination! Keep God first, trust His direction, believe in yourself, and remember that you don’t have to have it all figured out. Give yourself permission to grow, explore, and live YOUR life. Never let someone else’s timeline define your journey. The possibilities are endless! 🙏🏽❤️ I see you. I celebrate you. I believe in you. And I am beyond proud of you—not just for what you accomplish, but for WHO YOU ARE. No matter how old you get, how many degrees you earn, or where life takes you, you will ALWAYS be my baby boy. You are my sun, my moon, and all the stars in the sky. 🌙⭐❤️ And if I had to do it all over again, I’d choose YOU every single time! HAPPY 23RD BIRTHDAY TO THE PRINCE! 👑🎂 Now go continue to make your mark on this world! I love you beyond words, INFINITY X INFINITY, MOM. ❤️ #Happy23rdBirthday #ThePrince #ProudMom #myheart #mine by @vitiligo_konfidence

🔥 DID IT ANYWAY. AND I’D DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN! 🔥 “I’M 1 OF 1 — NO COPY PASTE!” 💋✨ When God created me, He didn’t make a duplicate. He made an original. And I’ve learned that the very thing that makes you different may be the very thing God uses to open doors you never imagined walking through. Diagnosed with vitiligo at 10, I could never have imagined where this journey would take me. From wearing makeup for 35 years to walking New York Fashion Week six times, appearing in People magazine, being featured on a Times Square billboard, and using my voice to inspire others to embrace who they are — God has continued to exceed my expectations. But let me be clear: my confidence was never dependent on my skin. My journey is about embracing my uniqueness, walking in my purpose, and giving others permission to do the same. I am not here to tell you what your confidence should look like or how you should navigate your journey. I’m here to remind you that you get to define that for yourself. I’m building I Am Konfidence on a message that has been at the heart of my journey: DIFFERENT IS BEAUTIFUL. ❤️ I didn’t change who I was to fit in. I stopped feeling the need to hide what made me different. And through it all, I’ve learned this: YOUR UNIQUENESS IS YOUR SUPERPOWER! Thank you to Vitiligo Trend Pro for featuring my story in the DID IT ANYWAY community series and giving me another opportunity to share this message with the world. 🖤💛 To anyone reading this: Stop waiting for permission to be who God created you to be. You don’t need to look like anyone else, follow anyone else’s timeline, or shrink yourself to make others comfortable. You are 1 of 1. NO COPY PASTE. Walk in it. Own it. Do it anyway! 👑 #DidItAnyway #VitiligoTrendPro #DifferentIsBeautiful #IAmKonfidence #YourUniquenessIsYourSuperpower #VitiligoAwareness by @vitiligo_konfidence
DID IT ANYWAY — KARLOWBA ADAMS POWELL “I’m 1 of 1— No Copy Paste!” Karlowba is building I Am Konfidence: a platform rooted in confidence, visibility, and the belief that different is beautiful. A Mother, Lawyer, Model, and Global Vitiligo Ambassador, she wants people to see themselves represented, celebrated, and worthy of taking up space exactly as they are. Diagnosed at 10, she spent 35 years wearing make-up on her face to cover her vitiligo. Five years ago, she chose to stop—it will be six years in January. But she is clear: wearing make-up on her face was what she knew, never a measure of her confidence or worth. “There is no single right way to navigate living with vitiligo, and everyone’s relationship with their skin is personal.” Her story leaves room for every stage of that journey. Faith is central to how Karlowba understands her purpose. She describes her uniqueness as her “God-assignment”—opening doors she once never imagined, from walking New York Fashion Week six times to appearing in People magazine, a Times Square billboard, and serving as keynote speaker at World Vitiligo Day USA 2025. Those milestones are part of her story. So is the message she carries into her advocacy: meet people where they are. Let them discover what confidence and beauty mean for themselves, without pressure to satisfy anyone else’s expectations. “Your uniqueness is your superpower.” You don’t have to follow someone else’s timeline to deserve visibility, respect, or belonging. Thank you for sharing your words, faith and photographs with us, @vitiligo_konfidence. 🖤 DID IT ANYWAY — stories and voices from the VTP community. #DidItAnyway #VitiligoTrendPro #Vitiligo #IAmKonfidence by @vitiligo_konfidence
