Hi! If I weren’t someone whose writing was so tied to her name, I wouldn’t feel the need to make an official announcement that I’m changing my name both legally and as a writer. But I am, so here we are. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤗

My new byline will soon read Vivian Babin or Vivian Delgado Babin pretty much everywhere I publish. Instead of Vivian Nunez. I’m transitioning my social, Substack, and email slowly because there’s a lot of backend logistics, but I have to say… so worth it.

I don’t know my father, and Nunez has always felt really foreign to me. I’ve always known I never wanted to publish a book with that last name on the front cover. I wanted to see a name that felt like mine. I’ve always led with Vivian. I’m proudly my mother’s daughter, a Delgado. And as of this fall, I’m the newest member of the Babin family, which I’m really happy about. Tyler and I have been building our family for years, but there’s just something nice to me about sharing the same last name now.

Everything about changing my name has proven that it’s a deeply personal choice. I’m glad we get the chance to each make the one that makes the most sense to us as individuals.

It’s also pretty nice to be so close to the front of the alphabet from now on. :)

We’re so close to meeting our $5k fundraising goal for @weareempower_

Their work helps pair kids under 24 with adults over 24 who have lost a parent. I was introduced to Chloe almost a year ago and growing our friendship is one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Often I felt like I had all this knowledge about doing life without a mom and no one else to benefit from it. Now that’s not true.

Tyler’s running the NYC Marathon for Empower and also for himself. I could not be more proud of how much work and dedication he’s poured into training.
