From the hands of music legends to ours—this amazing piece of history showed up in Mississippi last week.

Courtesy of Joey Kent, this was used by radio station KWKH in Shreveport, Louisiana as their studio mic where they recorded their radio shows and demos and hit records. The mic was on display at the Booneville Country Club Banquet. This very mic powered over 50 appearances by Elvis Presley in Shreveport between 1954 and 1956.

From 1942 to 1962, it served as the voice of the Hayride—amplifying icons like Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and more—helping launch the careers that defined country, rockabilly, and the birth of rock ’n’ roll.

Banquet included Jeff Cole, Rockabilly Hall of Fame Museum, Executive Director and Joey Kent, owner of the Louisiana Hayride Archives. Both of them were featured speakers at the event as well.

Thanks to Summer Speaks for coming along for the journey as we did some festival scouting and research.

🌈 THANK YOU, PARK CIRCLE PRIDE 2026 🌈 What an incredible week.

Over six unforgettable days, thousands of people came together across Park Circle to celebrate love, authenticity, visibility, inclusion, and queer joy through more than 40 events.

Thank you to every performer, artist, speaker, volunteer, sponsor, vendor, nonprofit, local business, and community partner who helped make this year’s festival possible. From drag shows and dance parties to live music, youth programming, workshops, worship services, and community gatherings, you helped create spaces where people felt welcomed, celebrated, and seen.

A special thank you to this year’s beneficiaries, AFFA and We Are Family, whose work continues to strengthen our LGBTQ+ community long after Pride Week ends.

One of the most meaningful moments of the week was the City of North Charleston proclaiming June 2, 2026 as Lee Anne Leland Day, honoring her decades of advocacy, leadership, and service to the transgender community.

Park Circle Pride is about more than a festival. It’s about community, connection, visibility, and belonging.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, donated, sponsored, and showed up for one another:

💜 Thank you.

🏳️‍🌈 Come As You Are.

✨ Park Circle Pride returns for our 7th year, June 1–6, 2027.
