We are back with another free event on the 6th November at Woodhouse Community Centre. This time with a range of different workshops lead by creatives from the local scene. Please get a ticket for whichever workshop(s) you'd like to attend as spaces are limited. Masks Mandatory. Free Tickets on sale tomorrow (28/10) at 3pm Digital Foraging 10:45-12:00 Layla Klimova (she/her) and Kit Watson (he/him) lead an introduction to ‘Digital Foraging’. Using the theories and methods of collage, splicing and remixing, the artists will explore a range of techniques for creating vivid representations of our digital age; rifling through the infinite archives of the web and reclaiming the wastes of content for new ends. Layla and Kit are the lead artists of Vivid Tadpole, an interdisciplinary art collective exploring rituals, fairytales, and technopaganism using audiovisual storytelling and performance art. Clay Crafting 12:30-14:00 A clay crafting workshop where we’ll imagine and create queer / trans protective figurines — altar creatures and familiars to hold us through this time Bao-Yin (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist and facilitator based in Leeds. They are a certified yoga facilitator, NADA acupuncture facilitator, and offer workshops to trans, queer, and BIPOC family. They’re also a ceramicist and drag performer, using both mediums to connect to spirit and honor ancestors - both blood related and spiritual. Music Production 14:30-16:00 In this workshop, they are focusing on how to start producing, using references, exploring sound selection and sound design, and how to navigate production resources available to develop as a producer. While starting with the basics, this workshop will go into hands-on making a song, and exploring on how to develop from DAW proficiency to releasing music like your biggest influences, and developing a collaborative network. ANOP is a producer/promoter/DJ, who runs the label/event collective Dreamland, and has released a stream of dreamy, ethereal tracks spanning Nightcore, Trance and Hyperpop, supported by the likes of Rebecca Black and Porter Robinson. by @vividtadpole
🖲️PERFORMER ANNOUNCEMENT🖲️ Last but not least we have the shapeshifting @vividtadpole ! 🐸🪄 Vivid Tadpole are an audiovisual storyteller collective who use performance, sound and projection to invoke lurid rituals of the flesh and of the internet. 🖥️💫 This time, they present a new work; a high-concept noise opera of the future. Through a hybrid-theatre method, they will weave a gripping narrative of scrolling, worshipping, gooning and loving in the online age.🍆✳️ Catch them at our event on 30th October at Wharf Chambers! Don’t miss out, the tickets are in our b!o 🔗📲 by @vividtadpole
Crashing off the information superhighway at breakneck speed, beaming digital mayhem straight into your brain and turning your eyes square with the force of a thousand suns - Slime Mold Rodeo returns for your content-consuming pleasure. On the 30th of October, at the ever beloved Wharf Chambers, a cosmic cornucopia of performance art, sonic exuberance and anti-music excess will grace your eyeballs.  This event takes the form of a cabaret, but not as you might have seen one before. There will be a variety of acts, bridging the gap between real and artificial, toeing the line between corpus and computer - the night will be aglow with digital energy. The night will center trans and non-binary artists, each divergent in their practice, but united in their cyborgness.  Stay tuned for a deep dive into each performer in the coming days, and mark your calendars - we’re going deeper into the internet than ever before! The ticket link is in our bio if you’d like to get ahead of the (presumably giant) queues on the night. Poster designed by @kit.pixi_ by @vividtadpole
*PLEASE SHARE FAR AND WIDE* Do you have a strange performance in the works you’ve wanted to try out but no idea where to apply? Ever daydreamed a ritual and then wondered ‘what type of lunatic would give me the chance to do this?’ Ever felt like a cyborg? A drone? An avatar? Slime Mold Rodeo is in search of queer performance artists working around themes of: artificial intelligence & deepfakes, internet sludge, body horror, digital excess, hallucinations and distortion, loneliness & overconsumption. We’re on the look out for performers to join our cast of freaks, performance artists and outcasts. We want to move away from the boundaries of Cunty Drag and champion queer performance art over everything else. This isn’t to say we’re not looking for drag; we’re after the freakiest, glitchiest, gloopiest acts you can conceptualise, whether these take the form of drag or something else entirely. The event will take place on the 30th October - more information to follow. Deadline for applicants: 17th September, there is a link in our bio and on our story highlights to apply! Fairly paying each performer for their work is very important to us and while at this stage we cannot promise a certain sum we will be splitting all profits and tips equally between performers and everyone else working on the night. At this time we cannot pay for travel or accommodation for applicants that may be travelling out of Leeds. We look forward to hearing from you all, keep a look out for more event information coming out soon! Link in bio, but also here too. https://form.typeform.com/to/NagHnSOd by @vividtadpole

REINTRODUCING: VIVID TADPOLE Tonight at Ye Olde Wharfe Chambers, our two merry avant-horny adventurers embark on a quest to meet the gaze of the Machine Goddess, joined by special guest and ethereal pond witch Chloe Maybury in A FAIRY A CYBORG A GODDESS, the first show in the probably sometimes acclaimed tadpole band’s new series of fantastical and whimsical high-concept ambient AV shows. Come one come all! by @vividtadpole
Not long at all now until @vividtadpole performs alongside some weirdo heavyweights at the @free.music.lessons.leeds x @heinouswhiner shindig this very thursday. We’re presenting some rich, psychedelic ritual cyberfantasy dungeon synth, accompanied by the delightfully esoteric @chloe__maybury pouring out incantations to the machine goddess. Be there!!! Or else by @vividtadpole
Also! Just realised that the VT account has laid dormant for nearly a year whilst we’ve been anything but. Plan to do a few retrospective posts in the next week but for now here’s a reaffirmation of what we stand for. Much love, Layla xx by @vividtadpole
