150 hats!

Hundreds of hours painting. Countless cups of coffee. Lots of tiny details.

Today I finished hat #150 of the year, and I couldn't be more grateful that I get to create art inspired by the places and things I love.

New hats have landed.

Inspired by the mountains, wildflowers, rivers, and creatures that make the Pacific Northwest feel like home.

The easiest business plan would be to print hundreds of identical hats. Instead, I spend hours painting every design by hand, creating unique individual artwork. It's probably not the most scalable approach, but that's exactly what makes these hats different.

Every brushstroke, color choice, and detail comes from the original artwork. No mass production. No shortcuts. Just wearable art made one hat at a time.

A guilt-free day off.

I think a lot of fellow artists and small business owners can relate to this: it's hard to take a day off without feeling like you should be working. There's always emails to answer, orders to fill, ideas to sketch, or tasks waiting on the list.

But if you never take the time to slow down and enjoy life, you start to lose sight of why you're creating in the first place.

Today was a reminder that inspiration doesn't only happen at the workbench. Sometimes it looks like wandering through the woods, watching newts and slugs, admiring ferns and moss, standing beneath towering trees, and riding bikes.

The work will be there tomorrow. Today was for filling the creative cup back up.

EXCITING NEWS!

As much as I love painting hats one at a time and knowing each piece is completely unique, I've also been looking for ways to make my artwork more accessible. Creating an Artist Series allows me to share some of my original watercolor illustrations with more people while still staying true to the creative process that inspires my hand-painted work.

I'm excited to share a new Artist Series of hats featuring two of my newest watercolor illustrations.

Inspired by the Pacific Northwest and printed on ethically sourced hats made with a focus on environmental responsibility, this limited run brings my artwork from paper to the trail.

To honor this milestone, and the incredible local farmers who make it all possible, I’m creating a special series of hand-painted fruit and vegetable hats, available exclusively at the Hood River Farmers Market.
