The Sloth Who Slowed Us Down

This book feels like a little reminder we all need. In a world where everyone is constantly rushing and trying to get everything done, this story gently tells us it’s okay to slow down.

Amy’s family is always busy—running from one thing to the next, checking off their to-do lists, barely stopping to breathe. Deep down, Amy just wants more time with her parents. She wants to tell them about her day and actually be heard. I won’t give too much away (you really should read it yourself hehe), but an unexpected guest shows up and changes the whole vibe of the house.

When the sloth comes to stay, things don’t shift overnight but little by little, the family starts to move differently. They learn to wait. To be patient. To enjoy what’s happening right in front of them instead of always thinking about what’s next.

What I really love about this book is the illustrations. You can literally see the change happening. The family’s expressions soften, their posture relaxes, even their hair gets less stiff and structured as the story goes on. Such a clever way to show their transformation. There are also tiny details that make it extra fun like the book titles near the end and how Mom and Dad slowly stop wearing their watches. Honestly, the pictures alone could tell the whole story. They’re that good.

It’s such a simple story, but the message hits. It feels very relevant to how we live now—always busy, always rushing. Maybe what we all need isn’t better productivity… maybe we just need a sloth to move in and remind us to slow down and actually enjoy life.

So excited to reveal the cover of BOOK #3 of the New Dragon City series!!! This is a sequel this time - happening six months after the events of New Dragon City!! This cover is by the amazing @vivienneto who has done all the beautiful, iconic New Dragon City covers!!! I’m so lucky to have her as my cover artist!!

In this riveting sequel to New Dragon City, a perfect society soars into view, but not all is what it seems... Perfect for fans of Wings of Fire and How to Train Your Dragon.

It’s been five long months since Noah has seen his dragon, Asha, and he can’t wait to be reunited with her when she wakes from hibernation. His best friend, Maya, however, isn’t so sure. She still remembers what dragons did to their world and isn’t ready to forgive and forget. She’s also not ready to let Noah out of her sight again, after what happened the last time. So when Noah and his old friend Lucas join forces to aid a dragon who might be in trouble, she insists on coming along for the ride, even if that means on dragonback.

Together the three of them head to Boston, now known as the City of Scales. Championed as a new world order where dragons and humans have partnered to build a paradise of movie theaters, restaurants, libraries and even pro baseball games. To Noah, it’s a dream come true. A return to a world he thought he’d never see again. But Asha remains suspicious, believing something is rotten under this city’s shiny skin. And if she can't convince Noah to believe her in time, it may cost her and her dragons their lives.
