In every piece of art, there is a history that lives inside. Looking back, I can see the magic and the hands that have guided me to this exact momentI remember being that young, unassuming pupil in Monticello, MS a town of 1,000 people and one stoplight. While the world outside taught me survival, it was my home and my parents that cultivated creativity, giving me a chance to thriveThere has always been a gentle hand guiding my journey; the random seeds were always a roadmap preparing me for the next challenge.Today, I look for it and lean in. Taking the good with the bad, I put it all into my artwork. Each piece is a timestamp, a reference for the futureI’m stepping through the doors and finally following the flow with full faith. A simple trip to the grocery store is the perfect place to find inspiration. The pineapple is so majestic and crowned; a true rebel among other fruits. Did you know every scale was once an individual flower? It is also the only known fruit with significant traces of Bromelain.Unlike some other fruits, if you want your own pineapple plant, you can simply cut the top off and plant it. However, the plant itself has to grow for two years before it finally bears fruit. Ironically, this piece took me about two years to complete as well. I started it in 2024 and finally glazed it last month.It took me so long to finish because I didn’t want to use the wrong color. I finally worked up the courage and committed to gold and cream ( for pineapple 1) blue, green and gold (for pineapple 2) , and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the outcome. To me, the pineapple is a symbol of kingdom behavior and celebrating individualism. The process taught me that it’s okay to take your time, as long as you remind yourself that the answers are already inside you. It's fig season, and harvesting in-season fruit is one of the most grounding and rewarding pastimes for me. I see the world through analogies, so a nature walk feels like a conversation with the Creator. This vase is from my most recent collection that explores the balance of loss and celebrating life. This is also the first time I used gold in a collection. If you haven't already, look up the significance of the fig – you might be shocked how much meaning it carries in various cultures.Side note: It might be hard letting go of this piece, and I may just keep it for myself! 😀 Fun fact: I don't own any of my vases.Swipe to see details by @vixonsullivan

I get excited when my art tells me it's time to do something different. Especially small changes. Let's see how a gold rim would look on this dogwood vase.Note to self:Believe in yourself.
