Had such a good night moderating the private NYC screening of PROOF by the brilliant @herranathegreat_ 🎬✨
Loved how the film used art, movement and poetry to tackle something as serious as child labour. Difficult subjects do not always need to be told in conventional ways. Sometimes, a more expressive creative language can help audiences feel an issue differently.
I am always fascinated by the choices filmmakers make: where they place the audience, what they choose to leave unsaid, and how visual language can communicate as much as dialogue.
Also very cool hearing filmmakers and storytellers unpack their process. Always something new to learn. che.nembhard @sabrinaelba
Great people, great conversations, lots of Ghanaian energy in the room 🇬🇭 with @kofmotivation , @nanakwabena and more.
A very good night out.

“The greatest illusion” said the mole, “is that life should be perfect”.- The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. Cancelled plans, bad weather, plane won’t land, one strikingly tall Dinka boy, one Liam power pose and a flash of inspiration led to this. And these kids served a lot of happiness. I’ll take it as a win. Cheers 🥂. Now let’s get home to the cubs and Her Highness. taken in South Sudan- Juba by @vjayhappy

Parenting. Blimey! Brings joy and stress in equal measure. Haven't had another project that felt close to home than this one. In the end, no parent has it all figured out. How could you? Our children are also raising us. And that's okay.

Ah story story.
This absolute gem of a chef here made my day today.
For a small town restaurant, the meals were excellent all around but then the small chili sauce on the table everybody was ignoring is what this is all about.
Ofcourse, it was passed to yours truly; the Ghanaian on the table with the sacred shito-seasoned palate.
Click. open.
omg, this was hot! Forget spicy. This is volcanic hot, the bottle opens and your nose begins to drip already. What a potion! 🤯

At the same time, the pepper was so flavorful we were asking if there was mango in it.
In the end, I dug in. And got a few others to try. Eyes were watering. Nose were watering. But you can’t stop. You dare not.

So I asked to see the mastermind behind this madness. I thought he deserved a knighthood. And out comes this sweet good man.
I couldn’t understand a word of his “de de de de hyur jour jour” French people like to say. But I could hear the passion in his voice. Passion of a man who loves and lives his craft.

Yes, he offered me a bottle to take home. And he says his daughter, called Fanta lives in NewYork and I should go and say hello. Oh the kindness in his eyes!

So, I have my golden aromatic lava shito. When I get back home, of course, my Abena Amponsah will titrate and use reverse osmosis and all her kitchen skills to break down its secrets.

Certainly not for the faint hearted…but I’ll remember this infectious, regal old Senegalese chef, his enduring passion and this small bottle of fire. A can of gems.

The end. 🤤

Next round, please. Whirlwind year, yet moments like these—lush greens, quiet streams, simple joys of village life, lying 180km & 4hour drive away, where time slows down—bring clarity and gratitude. Here’s to reflecting, re-centering, embracing stillness and ending the year on a high low. We go again 2025. Thank you #JahGuidance #Village #Gratitude #SimpleJoys taken in Vestal NY by @vjayhappy

Some years ago I saw a YouTube video and I thought, oh I love this. the setup, the colours, the simple studio and the branding and how engaging the videos were. It was an episode on @CUT and @hihokids
If you are creative, you know how you can obsess about the very little things and the small details can turn you into a freaking fanatic!
I’d just began my small local video production unit, HappiMess.org then and seeing CUT and HiHo, I knew where I wanted to take HappiMess.

This weekend was surreal because I was at CUT studios in Seattle, WA, filming, directing, having fun on a project and just soaking in the magic of it all. 😱🎬

Oh the places you’ll go! #Guidance
