Amazing operatic experience with Death by Aria at @gracecathedral, SF on Oct 28th. Hosted by @redcurtainaddict and @thetasteoftalent. New projectors really shined to create the visual backdrop of every performance. Thanks to @thereeldiscod for your help making this show possible. #projectionmapping #opera #gracecathedralsf by @vjmarkjohns
@thereeldiscod Donovan Drummond and I had a great time bringing the Lightshow to the Market Street Arts & Theater festival this last weekend. Thanks for all the support over the years. People really appreciated the live liquids mixed with political messaging in honor of the No Kings Rally! Artists have an obligation to express themselves! #marketsreetsf @marketstreetarts by @vjmarkjohns
The more people we love pass away, the more I realize how important you all are to me. Listening to this song “People Make The World Go Round”, written by the Stylistics in 1972 reminded me of this. Milt Jackson delivered a famous jazz-vibraphone version on his acclaimed album Sunflower. His instrumental recording features an all-star lineup including Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Freddie Hubbard, and Billy Cobham. This one’s going out to you, Cholo!! by @vjmarkjohns
Amazing weekend with friends and family for the Om Getaway @om_getaway . Thanks to @thereeldiscod Donovan Drummond for your collaboration on this visual adventure. Thanks to @shinyobjects2020 Chris Smith for your talent and support to bring this artist and dance community together to celebrate 30 years of Om Recordings. Hope it becomes an annual event. #projectionmapping #omrecords30years by @vjmarkjohns

Three years ago, Mercury Soul transformed Saint Joseph’s Arts Society into an epic and ethereal dance party. Immersive projections lit the walls while DJs, strings, and brass filled the space with electrifying energy. The event sold out in advance and it remains one of our favorite Mercury Soul nights ever. Until now… On June 5, expect even more breathtaking visuals, DJ sets, live classical performances, principal dancers from San Francisco Ballet, Taiko drumming, and much more. Grab a cocktail and explore this gorgeous venue as you journey from the dance floor to classical masterpieces and back again. ✨ Step inside the Mercury Soul universe… ✨ Friday, June 5 Saint Joseph’s Arts Society — San Francisco Tickets available at MercurySoul.com Featuring DJ sets plus performances by: The Mercury Soul String Ensemble, Jiten Daiko Taiko Ensemble, Soprano Kochavia Glaubach, The Mercury Soul Brass featuring saxophonist Aaron Lington, Pianist Elyse Weakley and more! Conducted by Daniel Stewart With immersive visuals by Mark Johns Plus a special performance by principal dancers from SF Ballet #sanfrancisco #classicalmusic #mercurysoul #livemusic #nightlife by @vjmarkjohns
Mercury Soul is back on 6/5 at Saint Joseph’s Arts Society! This was a sold out concert back in 2023, and finally after 3 years, it’s back at this iconic cathedral. I had so much fun at this back then, and the acoustics with the live orchestra and DJs really echoed throughout the space! And at night, it feels like you’re enveloped with the most beautiful wall-mapped visuals and lights. There will be DJ sets by DJ Masonic @masonbatesmusic and DJ Justin Reed @djjustinreed1 featuring Mozart, Ravel, Ellington, Piazzolla, etc. You can expect a 9-piece string ensemble, plus brass, piano, and other fabulous talent – including members of SF Ballet. @saintjosephsartsfoundation is a cathedral-turned-club designed by the renowned Ken Fulk that will feature vibrant large-scale projections designed by visual designer, Mark Johns @vjmarkjohns. The ensemble will be conducted by Daniel Stewart. This is open to all ages and they have a limited number of VIP tickets available, so grab your tickets on @mercurysoulmusic ‘s website before they’re sold out like before! Use code SFANDREW for 20% off. 1401 Howard Street, San Francisco 94110 #mercurysoulmusic #funthingstodoinsf #sfevents #sfinfluencer #sfblogger by @vjmarkjohns
Glad to have the opportunity to work with philanthropic groups like Dress for Success last weekend for their gala Disco Ball, celebrating 20 years of success. Helping women Go From Surviving to Thriving Since 2006, Dress for Success San Francisco has provided resources and a continuing network of support to more than 19,000 Bay Area women* as they move through their professional journeys. @dressforsuccess.sf by @vjmarkjohns
So great to be doing visuals for the Salted crew with @miguelmigsmusic and @juliuspapp last Friday night! We started our journey together 22years ago and it was nice to celebrate our anniversary, with special guest Tony Humphries @tony_humphries and live performance by @lisashaw_ . Thanks to @greatnorthernsf for hosting the party. Thanks to all the Bay Area house music family for coming out to share a dance and support the scene. by @vjmarkjohns
