After scouting the beach for any spots that caught our eye we began to set up shooting with the @sony A7iii + Sigma 24-70mm which practically never leaves my camera such a good all-rounder lens

Detail shots are a must-have. They add another layer to the story, capturing the smaller elements that might go unnoticed.
sometimes, it’s the details that make the image and ultimately, the story feel complete.

PROP / STORY
I often try to incorporate a prop that is significant to the shoot or the person. It gives the image personality and helps tell a more authentic story.
For this shoot, she just so happens to love a good melon and this one was grown on her father’s farm. So naturally, we had to bring it into the frame.
And yes... this was a GOOD melon.

This one came from simply letting the moment happen. Once the direction was given, I stepped back and let the interaction carry the frame it’s also important for you to enjoy the

Nothing here was left completely to chance. I was directing her through small movements until the pose felt natural rather than forced.

MOVEMENT
I wanted to introduce movement into the shoot and let the environment become part of the story.

Rather than keeping every frame posed, I had her run along the beach and simply allowed the moment to unfold. The movement, wind, and natural light all came together to create something that felt more spontaneous and alive.

Sometimes the best frames happen when you stop asking someone to pose and just let them move.

Earlier this year, I joined the @jamcroc_initiative and @nepajamaica on a crocodile survey to help monitor the crocodile population and the recovery of the Black River Lower Morass following the hurricane. Between scanning the river for crocodiles, we also spotted birds like a “Great egret” along the wetlands.
