Incredible ARTTalks ‘The Now After What We’re Left With’ evening with Pen and Brush Gallery last night. It’s been a pleasure to show with artists Tyvette Symone, Lacey McKinney, Amy Hill and Chau Nguyen. Pen and Brush is more than a gallery. It’s 132-year sisterhood and it’s been an honor to be a part of it.

The Pen and Brush Annual NYC fundraiser party was a blast! Y’all, this fierce, 131-year historic organization is incredible and I can’t praise them enough for the hard work that they do. Proud to be a part of it in 2026.

V.L. Cox (b. Shreveport, Louisiana), a multidisciplinary artist, is one of five artists who will participate in “The Now After: What We’re Left With” exhibition alongside The Typewriter Project. This exhibition confronts our world after impact, after rupture, and after the world we experienced yesterday. Cox’s works respond to systemic injustices and barriers to human rights while confronting the historical legacies that sustain them.

Digitizing and documenting my most valuable possession. My childhood portfolio. When my grandmother signed me up for a kids summer class at Henderson State University at the age of 10, she saw something in me that I did not. And it changed my life.

I found this in the bottom of her cedar chest after she died and I am so thankful she saved it. If these images turn out well, I might end up publishing all 43 of them in a small book. We’ll see. Preservation is my main concern right now and I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. It’s over 50 years old.
