July was Hard.
Sharing this isn't easy.

Watching a strong, powerful, iconic, and inspirational woman such as @simonebiles speak out on her mental health reminded me that there is strength in letting others know what you're going through.

I've dealt with ADHD my whole life- yet not very well;

In primary schooling, I was placed in advanced classes because my placement tests would rank in the top percentiles,
yet in all my classes, my grades were only just enough to get by.
My teachers were always frustrated with me that I never did homework and..
studying??
What the heck was that?

The only classes I excelled in were the ones that interested me, which were few and far between.

The symptoms only worsened as I got older;

Forgetting appointments,
Misplacing important documents,
Locking my keys in my car,
Showing up to work late,
Cluttered room ALL of the time,
Waiting until the last second to do assignments,
Starting projects but never finishing.

It all came to a head when I got fired from my job in June.
Losing that job solidified that I was no longer able to cope.

I felt terrible.
My mind told me that I was inadequate.
Why can't I just get my shit together? Why am I not finished with my schooling? Why do I not already have my career started?
I felt like I had been a burden on others and myself.

So in July, I stayed in bed.
And slept.

It's now August,
I've seen a psychiatrist and am taking medication for my ADHD,
my depression is getting better,
and I'm implementing a healthy routine because for the first time,
I can stick to it.

And so can you. ❤️

Hard times are temporary.

You're never Alone in your struggles.
There are people out there who Love you and are willing to help, but can't unless you tell them what is going on.
And that's not weak;
Admitting you're struggling so you can utilize help is strength.

There's Nothing Wrong with you.
You are not a burden.
You are Good Enough. ❤️ by @vocalence

After saving up all my money for a year,
I quit my full-time office job a month into the summertime so I could visit old friends and create new memories.
It was worth every second.

Riches are temporary placeholders in this world; the relationships you cultivate, the memories you share, and the impact you will have made
transcends beyond any physical possession money could buy. by @vocalence

Stephen Fitzpatrick & Audun Laading were the duo that made up Her's - my favorite band.

March 13th, 2019
I went to their concert in Houston, Texas at White Oak Music Hall.
They were from Liverpool and it was their first tour in the United States.

On March 27th, 2019
A head-on collision occured with their small tour van and a "wrong-way" driver while they were in Arizona, travelling to their gig in California.

A fiery blaze erupted from the two vehicles and everyone involved died on impact.

Together,
Stephen Fitzpatrick, Audun Laading, and their band manager passed in the early morning hours of
27 March 2019.

When I heard news of their deaths, I sobbed.
I still feel as though I am mourning their loss, even today.
I play their music every chance I have.

Whenever I CREATE music, it is always in their memory.

My songs are their love letters.

Thank you Stephen Fitzpatrick.
Thank you Audun Landing.
And thank you Her's.

You are so loved and so missed by so many. ❤️ by @vocalence

Today, I turn 26. 🌸🎂🎊

In 2024 I learned
We don’t Need to have it figured out.
We don’t Need to settle down.
Listen to your intuition and follow your dreams, even if it seems crazy- all we are guaranteed is here and now. Live it to the fullest.

Money isn’t everything and neither are the temporary Things it buys us.

A Life that is truly RICH encompasses…
close, respectful, trusting relationships,
happy memories,
fulfilling work,
prioritizing your physical and mental health,
Choosing Peace.

I have presently been feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world-

We must accept what we cannot change,
in order to have
Courage to Change what we can.

I choose a world of minimalism and philanthropy.
Slow Down.
Embrace nature, take more deep breaths. Tell someone you love them.
Be kind and patient.
Smile because you never truly know what someone is going through.

This year, I am selling possessions I do not need and donating whatever else I can.
I want to prioritize my health, relationships, and impact on my community and the environment.

We are stewards that have been gifted this world, our bodies, and our living counterparts.
Why do we not take better care with one another?
We Must do more.

I am so grateful I have made it to 26 and have new days to wake up to so that I can continue to live, learn, and grow.

And I am so grateful that you’re able to be here, reading this, and experiencing this life with me.

Live because Now is all we have.

Sending all my love to you. 🩵 by @vocalence

Life at 25, Peaking🔥This year has FLOWN.
I was told Life feels like it goes faster as you get older.
No one told me Life would also be so much more Fun as you get older.

Can’t wait to take on Year 26 next month 😈 by @vocalence

Stay Sultry with Me Awhile 🥀✨ by @vocalence

The most beautiful visual & auditory exhibition I’ve ever experienced✨
I felt like a little kid again, wandering through the halls of TeamLabs galleries.
It was breathtakingly gorgeous and there were a few times where I felt moved to tears because of the beauty that surrounded me.

It was a tranquil dream.

TeamLabs is a must if you are visiting Japan.

I was fortunate to get to visit all of their locations.

Be careful and make sure you book well ahead of time. Tickets are often sold out.

🇯🇵 To say that my trip to Japan was life-changing is an incredible understatement.

I stayed in hostels and met beautiful people from all over the world from different walks of life. I got to spend amazing quality time with my brother.
I visited temples and shrines and spoke Japanese with locals. I ate delicious food with new friends. I sang my heart out to karaoke late into the night with people I had just met that day. I shopped the latest trends and fashions in Tokyo. I let myself get lost in Kyoto and discovered quaint quiet villages, restaurants, and cafes. I journeyed through the many corridors and halls of food stalls and shops in Osaka. I strolled through the parks and forests of Nara and got to feed deer by hand with a girl I met named Sharlene, my new best friend from Costa Rica.
I took many trains and walked many miles.

At the Kiyomizu-Dera Temple in Kyoto, I purchased an Ema, a Japanese plaque that grants good fortune, and wrote on the back,

“Wishing for a life full of travels and adventures.”

I am so grateful for all my new friends and the priceless memories.

I will be back Japan,
And I will make sure to go Everywhere else too.
This is only the beginning. ❤️ by @vocalence

HAPPY 2024 😈🎉
(Yes, I know I’m late…)
_____

2023 was my most challenging year yet.
I moved across the country (and then back), I was laid off (what I thought was) my dream job, I was sober for 6 months.
2023 was also my BEST year yet.
I have grown SO much. I have more confidence in my abilities than ever before. I feel limitless.
Those closed doors opened doors to opportunities that I otherwise would not have had.
—
With every failure, I could have decided that the world was against me. I could have labeled myself as a victim to circumstance.
I had some days where my emotions got the best of me and I stayed in bed and let myself wallow
and that is OKAY!

I Allowed myself to process my losses, but in the back of my mind I understood the emotions were temporary and made myself get back up🩵

Today, in our new year of 2024, I can proudly say,

I am happy,
grateful,
blessed.
I do my best to make the conscious decision to live in gratitude no matter the circumstances.

What a gift it is to be Alive🩵

Wishing all of you a prosperous, challenging, rewarding year. You deserve it. by @vocalence

🥰❤️Merry Christmas, you Heathens✨🎅🎄

During Christmas as a kid, I would come bounding down the stairs of my home, burst into my parents room, and shake them awake,
ready and excited to open all the presents,
🤠 at 6 in the morning.

They would stir under their covers, groggy and sleep-deprived from Santa’s visit and would wave me away.
“Give us a few more hours to sleep.”

So I would take my cue and drag my feet, trudge back upstairs, wiggle snug into my warm bed, and wait- just like I had 8 hours before when I was so excited I couldn’t rest.
To this day, sometimes I still get so excited for the day to come, that I cannot sleep At All the night prior.

That anticipation, that magic, that zest for life, that childlike wonder,
is something I try to continue to hold onto today.

If you experience everything as if you are experiencing it for the first time, the world becomes so much more colorful, vibrant, and exciting.

That is what it means to me to have “Christmas Spirit”.

As a gift to yourself, I hope you get to experience that today too. ❤️ by @vocalence
