Conceived and curated by Vodo Arts Society and the collective blaxTARLINES, the Kitawuluzi Pavilion positions Kampala as a space where artistic discourse is produced collectively rather than simply received from established cultural centres.

Moving beyond the idea of access alone, the project raises broader questions about rethinking artistic authority, decentralisation, and the relationship between local communities and global art institutions.

A huge thank you to everyone who made it to the opening. Your presence, energy and conversations demonstrate the countless possibilities of this ‘gift.’

Over the next few months, “The Kitawuluzi” will come alive with a series of activations and artist-led workshops. Dates and details for upcoming events will be shared soon so please stay tuned.
