Filed for divorce at 27 with a toddler, newborn twins & no toilet paper
✨Rebuilt anyway. Remarried, coparenting, un-learning & healing

POSTS STORIES REELS

Me when I had to file for divorce I didn’t want at 27 with a toddler and newborn twins in tow right as all the toilet paper and formula went out of stock overnight back in early 2020 👀. (Is that a run on sentence?) Tea pouring soon ☕️🫖 by @voicebybree

Filed for divorce at 27 with a toddler and newborn twins. I didn’t have a plan, just a lot of love and a lot to learn.

Since then: rebuilding, co-parenting, remarrying, and unlearning old habits that once kept me safe. It hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been progress. 🤍

If you’re in the middle of your own rebuild, you’re not alone.

Sent my kids off again. ❤️‍🩹 7 years and it never gets easier. But they have a good dad, something I once put on my Christmas list. And I’m so glad they get what I didn’t.
Today I’m choosing to be grateful for that, and for this beautiful walk. 🤍 by @voicebybree

Your childhood doesn’t get a vote in your future, but it does show up in your relationships until you deal with it. I talk about divorce, healing, and doing the work. Follow along if that’s your kind of thing. 🧡 by @voicebybree

Here’s the 1st pour of tea! 🫖 Follow for the whole story. The worst part about moving out after my divorce wasn’t my ex being there. It was the 1970s solid wood bifold door that decided I hadn’t suffered enough 🚪💫
Let me explain 😅
That day it wasn’t the concussion. It wasn’t leaving the house we had been remodeling. I walked into the room where my marriage ended. Suddenly my body remembered what I couldn’t say out loud & a panic attack hit out of nowhere. Did I calmly breathe through it? No. 🙅🏻‍♀️ I sprinted upstairs, past my ex and his family who were carrying out boxes, and down the hall to hide because heaven forbid anyone see me cry.
The bifold door had other plans. I slammed the bedroom door so hard the bifold door that was leaning on the adjacent wall fell right on my head. 💥 I saw stars. I couldn’t breathe. My brother-in-law rushed in to check on me and ended up holding a sobbing, possibly concussed postpartum woman with no idea what was going on. I remember sobbing and through gasps of air weakly asking “why is this happening to me?”
My face started to go numb as I was hyperventilating and I managed to ask my BIL if he could squeeze me as hard as he could since I had learned in therapy a few months prior that this helps to regulate the nervous system during a panic attack. He hugged me tighter and said, defeated, “Bree I’m so sorry this is happening… How’s your head?”

Nothing says “divorced” like a trigger induced concussion on moving day with 3 kids under 3. Moving forward after divorce isn’t simple. There may be bumps in the road… and on your head, mid–panic attack. 🚪

I jest now, but I was in a serious head space at that time in March 2020 and felt the weight of the world as everything shut down for the p@ndemic as I removed all my children’s things from a now broken home. 🫶🏼❤️‍🩹 I’m grateful for the help of my in-laws that day to move me to my new home while also helping to keep an eye on my kiddos since my family wasn’t close. by @voicebybree

I’ll die on the hill that love is NOT enough to keep two people together. 🙂‍↔️
Love is only one ingredient in the recipe of marriage and though important, it won’t rebuild trust - only consistency will do that.
It won’t make you happy - only your perspective and mindset can do that.
It won’t forget the hurt caused by a partner’s betrayal - only intentional repair and choosing forgiveness will do that.
And sometimes….and sometimes YOU 🫵🏼 have to find the courage to love yourself enough to get out of a relationship that proves: Love. Is. Not. Enough. A heavy lesson I learned after exhausting all my options for repair, trust building, and preventing divorce. 🫶🏼 by @voicebybree

I want to know your tea too! 🤭 by @voicebybree

I’m trying to reach my target audience - I’m divorced and most days are ☀️ but occasionally there’s the ⛈️ to weather. C’mon, make me laugh! by @voicebybree

I’m the drama and the problem apparently! by @voicebybree

Edit: there’s a bug that removed this audio - trying to figure out how to replace it! Divorce has been the majority of their lives and it’s now been 7 years since. Children are amazing at adapting to their environment no matter how challenging it is at times. I hurt when they hurt and they deserve to be honored for how they’ve experienced split households. 🥲 by @voicebybree

But do keep telling me the tea about me!👂🏼 by @voicebybree
