Naeem sent me this picture yesterday before his football game, and when I say I broke down in tears… I BROKE DOWN.

To some, it’s just a pink ribbon. But to me, it represents a chapter of my life that changed me forever. My breast cancer journey taught me just how precious life is, how much strength can be found in the moments when you feel like you have none left, and most importantly, why giving up was never an option.

What touched me the most was knowing that before stepping onto that football field, he thought of me. That alone brought me to tears.

It made me think about everything I’ve been through, every moment I wanted to give up, every time I questioned why I had to go through certain things, and every time I still found a way to keep pushing forward.

“Don’t Give Up.”

Custom hat and tie done by: The Total Woman Consulting Agency. Shoutout to Chantell Williams and Auntie Myi Nicole because whew… y’all came THROUGH! 🙌🏾

Now, y’all see that hat?! Yeah… Amazon said, “Not today!” But Auntie Myra and Chantell said, “Oh, she WILL have a hat!”

Auntie Myra attended a funeral Saturday, rushed home afterward, grabbed a headband, wrapped it up, and got it over to Chantell. Chantell then worked her magic literally MINUTES before she hit the stage!

When I tell you it takes a VILLAGE… this is exactly what I mean! No excuses, just women seeing a need and making it happen.

That hat had a whole testimony before it ever made it on her head!

My Dearest Daughter,

Watching you grow into the remarkable young lady you are today fills me with an overwhelming sense of joy and pride. There is no manual on how to be a mother, especially a teenage mother, but with a supportive village and God on our side, we have achieved the impossible together. We’ve navigated through countless trials and errors, growing alongside each other every step of the way.

From the moment I brought you home, I vowed that we would overcome every obstacle in our path. I saw how my breast cancer diagnosis deeply affected you, causing you to struggle at Paxon High and feel like you were failing. But God had a greater plan for you at Riverside High School. I watched you come home each day, quiet and introspective, and then gradually find your footing and place at Riverside. You began to trust in God more, and I saw you slowly regain the lost spark, fueling it into a blazing fire of determination.

Many may only see your triumphs, but I witnessed your journey with the full load of courses, AP, Honors, dual enrollment, and FLVS to regain your spot in the top 10%. It was not easy, but you persevered. Every achievement you earned was through hard work and dedication. From being crowned Miss Riverside to earning numerous scholarships and being accepted into over 20 universities, even being honored by the President of the United States for your volunteer service. You are truly a force to be reckoned with.

You are everything I dreamed of being at your age, and more. I am honored to be your mother. I know you will continue to excel at FSU, working hard and continuing your incredible dedication to volunteerism.

Mommy loves you deeply, and together, we will conquer this next chapter. Let’s go get this college degree!

Tonight Jiles Jewels Inc awarded its second 2024 Hope Scholarship to A’laisha Hall from Riverside High School. A’laisha is Miss Riverside High 2023-24 and will be attending the Florida State University studying criminal justice. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Chorus, Sankofa Club, Mental Health club, cheerleading team, Junior class president, and teen attorney. Embracing the warmth of the holiday spirit, I, A”laisha Hall, affectionately recognized as Miss Riverside High 2023-24, cordially extend a heartfelt invitation to my beloved family, friends, and community to join me in the joy of giving for my 2nd annual Christmas drive. My heartfelt theme for this year, “Gracefully Riding,” reflects my passion for making a difference. My ambition is to bring the magic of wheels to 15 young children, aged 3-10.

Looking back on the profound influence of donors’ incredible support in the previous year, I brightened the lives of five children across two blessed families. Now, I turn to you with a humble plea for generosity once more.
