I wanna take a moment to celebrate the glitchy, drippy deliciousness that is @____bozo's Tryppy remix. It was getting lost in all the other single release hoo-ha.

Bozo (aka Sam) may be known and loved to some of you as the bassist from @stormthepalace's London era. He's one of those freaky dudes who can play all the instruments, and make sicc beatz on his computa, AND understand music theory 🤯 For his Trypophilia remix he reharmonised the whole song (see exhibit B).

You can stream/buy the full thing only on Bandcamp. Link in bio.

NEXT UP: the most halloweeny gig since monsters learned to mash

We'll be supporting the mind-altering @baron_nonesutch band, in the never-more-aptly-named @thevoodoorooms on Saturday Oct 31st.

This is another full band show for me, and we don't have any others planned atm, so please mark this as a priority item.

MASSIVE thank you to Rowan of @sorbusstudios for documenting the gig at @leithdepot138 on Monday. I said I wanted a 'Hitchcock's Notorious' vibe, and boy did he nail it 💎

Thanks also to:
● @bart_owl for lyric projection and visuals (adapted from @kris_boyle_'s amazing video)
● @claireo3000 for running the door (and making it smell so good with her handmade candles!)
● @leonorawinstanley for fabulous sound
● @tomorrowsghostmusic for a fantastic opening set
● @creativescots for funding
● @doloressaysno for smashing it out the park on bass and backing vox

And of course huge thanks to everyone who came. It was a very special evening 💖

The launch gig at @leithdepot138 is tomorrow 😬

This photo is misleading, I'm actually really nervous. You'd think after 20 years of playing in bands I'd be used to it? But this project feels so much more personal and exposed than anything I've done before.....

Still, I'll have Gordon and @doloressaysno backing me up (even the guy who runs the practice room said we were sounding "tasty" lol). Auld pal @tomorrowsghostmusic will be opening the night. And there's @bart_owl doing his lyric magic, and @claireo3000 keeping good energy on the door. So it's gonna be a cosy Monday evening with lots of lovely people.

Tickets are selling well so if you haven't got yours yet I'd recommend it. I'll close sales around 3pm tomorrow and post in my stories to say if there are still any left on the door.

Ps. Ted says hi but he will not be there tomorrow night thankfully

PREMIERE: Von Dodds - ‘Trypophilia’ 🖤
We’re premiering the brilliantly strange debut video from Edinburgh’s Von Dodds today. Dark, danceable pop noir, big drums, treacle-thick vocals and a warning against poking holes in everything.
The full video is up on the site now. 👆🔗 taken in Edinburgh, Scotland by @vondoddsandco

Yesterday I was interviewed on the radio by Marcel Proust.

Well, Proust wrote the questions but @shebeatmusic actually interviewed me, on her Loud Women North radio show. She also gave my new single its radio premiere! You can listen back on the @louderthanwarradio mixcloud.

@Loudwomen will also be premiering the video on their website this Thursday. It was made by video artist @kris_boyle_ and funded by @creativescots. It's a trippy marvel (or should that be tryppy?)

And it's one week til the launch gig at @leithdepot138. This is the first ever full band Von Dodds show (and though I say so myself, we're sounding pretty sweet). Tickets are selling well so booking is recommended! Link in bio.

Get all that?

I want to make sure everyone feels welcome at my single launch on Oct 5th. So I'm taking the following steps...

I'm holding it at @leithdepot138 which has step-free access and good transport links (it also happens to be my favourite local venue 😸)

There will be plenty of seating available for anyone that needs it, whether that's because you're not able to stand at all or (like me) you just find standing for pro-longed periods uncomfortable. I will also make sure that these seats have a clear vue of the stage. If all the seating is taken by the time you get there, just ask and we'll put some more out.

This is a super simple thing that a lot of music venues fail at.

The suggested ticket price is £12, but you can pay as little as £6. You don't have to prove anything - there are a million reasons folk might be cash strapped.

And if you're feeling flush you can also pay more than £12 ✨️ In the unlikely event I make a profit off this show, it will go towards funding a full album.

Thankfully I've had @creativescots funding to support this event, so my bottom line is covered 🍑

I shouldn't even have to write this, but because of bloody stupid recent law changes, some trans folk (understandably) get nervous about going to a venue that doesn't explicitly have a trans-friendly bathroom policy.

I'm really excited that @bart_owl will be on hand to project lyrics for our entire set. Of course, this is helpful for audience members who are deaf or who don't speak English as a first language... but it's also just gonna make the gig more engaging for everyone.

And I put a heck-ton of work into my lyrics, so it's nice to show them off 😌 by @vondoddsandco

@vondoddsandco played the dreamiest set, free lyric pins were available so I’ve took these and played around with layering them over some of the photos taken in The Banshee Labyrinth by @vondoddsandco
