POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

VW spent a week at @doebayresort as artists in residence. Our intention was to spend time grieving and finding new ways to play together. The sound of our own music has been incredibly difficult to make this year - Andru's absence is the loudest thing in the room. Our rehearsals now are preceded by hours of talking, sharing, and crying. This week was similar.
Joe, Jen and the staff of Doe Bay were very accommodating. We set up piles of instruments in their yoga studio by the bay and improvised for hours each morning. We sat with fellow artists in residence @kateplayssax, @magicmamaearth and @kenlykes in deep morning improvisation sessions. Part of our daily practice was unaccompanied vocal improvisations, which several days left us in tears. We played for hours freely, recording nothing, remembering nothing. We came away with nothing tangible. Our time was difficult, healing, and beautiful.
We are so grateful to everybody at @doebayresort for the opportunity and freedom to spend this time together. If you haven't been, please visit. It's a magic spot on a blessed island, run by folks who are doing a lot for PNW music and arts.
We have many things on the horizon, and we look forward to sharing them when the time comes.

"B Team" performed by Von Wildenhaus at Subdued Stringband Jamboree 2025. Video by Tom Martino.
Andru named this song "B Team," because it's got an A Team vibe, but played by the B Team. by @vonwildenhaus

Thank you @woodtickmusicfestival and @sashabellsings for hosting us in Darby, Montana. We had a beautiful time playing lots of music, cooling off in the stream, performing on @kfgm.msla in a small room with @blacktomato75, visiting oldest buds in Missoula @josh.vanek.official and Nikki and fam, experiencing the wonders of @marisaandersonmusic, and the splendor of @cassmccombs and his sick ass band. And lots of lightning and sudden wind storms.
We missed Andy, and wished he were with us, so we jammed on Lonesome Blues and Wingnut together. by @vonwildenhaus

So excited to have these guys at Woodtick. They’ll give you goose bumps, tears and the urge to shimmy all at once. #getyertickets taken in Darby, Montana by @vonwildenhaus

The first show I went to when I moved to Seattle from NYC in 2012 was Diminished Men and Corespondents at the Sunset, on advice from my new friend and future bandmate @leenirama. Immediately knew I found the right people in Seattle. That night in 2013, my first thought about both Diminished Men and Corespondents' music was that they were an urban parallel to the rural weirdness of Reeks and Wrecks, swapping University District for Whatcom County.

Tonight, we're playing with them both to celebrate @freshleman birthday. @corespondents have a terrific new LP out today.

Having returned to the NW in 2012, the first thing I did was start playing with the Reeks' Andru Creature again. Von Wildenhaus played w both Corespondents and @diminishedmen many times over the last 13 years and became good buds. I miss Andy every day and would feel unsure how to proceed with music without him if it weren't for my close bandmates in Von Wildenhaus, and the support and friendship I feel coming from fellow weirdo lifer musicians like @hazydaveyy, Steve, Simon, Kieran, Doug, Todd and @freshleman . See you tonight. by @vonwildenhaus

We've been hanging out together, crying, talking, laughing, playing music, and missing the absolute hell out of Andy. The five of us decided we'd play our next two scheduled shows - this Friday with fellow weirdos @abroniaband and @jackie_o_motherfucker at @addaball, and again at Add a Ball for @freshleman birthday on March 12 with old friends and fellow weirdos @diminishedmen and @corespondents. Both will be chances for us to gather with old friends and other lifer muso rockers, and search for fragments of Creature in some outer space jams. There will be a celebration of life soon, but no date yet confirmed.

3. Andy and Billie in a Bellingham alley, like always laughing
4. Last photo I took of Andy on stage in mid January
5. Had to buy Reeks' "Knife Hits" again on CD, because where's my CD?
