Can music be made of just one note?

Or two?

How many notes do we actually need before it becomes music?

Maybe fewer than we think. by @voronov_peter

My asymmetric viola.

A little unusual, but so am I.

And now I’m wondering… when a shaman performs, does he improvise — or does he follow a carefully prepared program?

Anyway, here’s my improvisation.
No plan. No score. Just listening and following the sound. by @voronov_peter

I improvise and record the violins layer by layer.

No rewriting. No fixing. Just listening, reacting, and staying in the flow.

One layer leads to another — and this is what happens. by @voronov_peter

I’ve been playing the violin for 42 years, and I’m still learning.

This time, I’ve been working on Baroque improvisation. Playing the violin at A=415 Hz is surprisingly difficult — my brain is melting trying to adjust!

What do you think of my improvisation? Does it sound like something that could have been written in the 18th century?

And what are you learning right now? by @voronov_peter

Can you improvise without thinking? Keep your mind completely empty and look yourself in the eyes through the camera?

“I simply looked at myself in the mirror, without making any faces, for half an hour every day — until I lost all sense of my own identity.”

— Heinrich Böll, The Clown (Ansichten eines Clowns, 1963) by @voronov_peter

Yes, this is an improvisation. Why?

For me, it’s the most reliable way to feel that concert energy.

No takes. No preparation. Just record an improvisation and post it.

Considering that some of my Reels get over half a million views — it works.

I never know in advance how many people will see it, but I keep one thought in mind: maybe I’m playing for half a million listeners right now.

That definitely keeps you focused.

Even at home.

Try it :) by @voronov_peter

Feel free to leave your thoughts and questions — I’ll also make a review of the violins, violas and plugins I use. by @voronov_peter

So I want to open a new chapter in my musical journey.

Today I’m trying something different:
creating music directly with my own brain.

No one has done this beforе 🧠

What about you? by @voronov_peter

If improvising and posting the first take feels too easy, there’s a harder mode — using a looper and improvising three layers in real time 🎸✨ #freeimprovisation by @voronov_peter

Touchscreens, keyboards, and mice will disappear the moment the first generation of kids grows up playing with toys controlled directly by the brain. 🧠🎮

I wonder… will they have incredible self-control thanks to these skills? 🤔

Or are we the last generation that can actually do things with our hands? ✋

Three recordings.

Three completely different ways of making music.

One took around 50 takes.
One was performed exactly as written.
One was a complete first-take improvisation.

Which is A, B and C?
