It’s always great to run into Bob Allison, and even better when I can grab some Allison’s Farm corn!

Bob and I have worked together on the Georgetown Farmers Market committee for more than 20 years. We share the belief that local food matters, and local farms matter.

That’s why we’ve worked hard to keep the majority of our Farmers’ Market vendors as local farms. If we want to eat local, we need to make sure we can still farm local.

And that’s becoming harder.

Ontario’s 2024 Provincial Planning Statement has created more flexibility around urban area boundary expansions. While there are still planning requirements and protections for agricultural land, the pressure on farmland is real and we cannot take the farms we have today for granted.

Once farmland is developed, we don’t get it back.

That’s why I support an Ontario Foodbelt, a long-term approach to protecting the agricultural land base that feeds our communities and ensuring we can continue to grow food close to home.

As your Ward 3 Councillor, I’ve worked to listen to our farmers, understand the pressures they face, and make sure agriculture has a voice in decisions that affect our community.

Those pressures aren’t just about development. Road design, infrastructure decisions, land-use changes and the cumulative impact of development can all make it harder for farmers to continue farming in Halton Hills.

We need to decide what we are not willing to lose.

Our farms are part of our economy. They support local food. They protect our rural landscape. And they give future generations the opportunity to farm here.

As your Regional Councillor, I will continue to advocate for responsible growth, strong local food systems, and the long-term protection of our farmland. I am proud to have Bob's support, but more importantly I am proud to support Bob and all of our local farmers.

Another day, another cute dog!

Basil is just one of the many four-legged friends I’ve met while out knocking on doors across Georgetown.

He seemed pretty excited about my signs. Good thing we ordered more, and you might even see some slightly bigger ones popping up.

I think this counts as an endorsement. 😉

The CFUW Mayoral and Regional Councillor forum is tonight from 7-9 at the John Elliot Theater in Georgetown.

One of the rules of the debate is that candidates cannot use artificial intelligence, and I think that is a good thing. AI is a useful tool we all use that can find and process information, but it is people who build strong communities.

My pledge to you is that when you choose me as your Regional Councillor for Wards 3 & 4, you will be choosing someone who does the hard work, reads the documents, gets the facts, and makes informed evidence based decisions using my judgement.

Council must remain a conversation between people, not a collection of AI-generated answers or speeches talking to each other. I will not delegate my duties to AI summaries or replacement my experienced judgement with an AI answer. That is a promise.

You’ve all seen a lot of signs and billboards at intersections around town, but it’s the signs you put on your lawns that really make the difference.

Have you decided to support me and my plans for evidence based decision making, community engagement, protecting our natural infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility that prioritizes revenue increases over cutting our vital services?

If so, tell your neighbours by taking a sign for your lawn!

If you aren’t decided, call or email me. I am always happy to meet with you and hear about your priorities.

I recently had the opportunity to volunteer with The Ironwood Project at the Georgetown Farmers' Market.

Ironwood provides free, confidential peer support for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, as well as support for parents, spouses, partners and loved ones. They also do important work in education, prevention and helping professionals better understand how to support survivors.

This is also a good example of why the work of Halton Region matters. Supporting community safety and well-being isn't the responsibility of one organization or one level of government. It requires local organizations, regional services, police and other community partners to work together.

Halton Region's Community Safety and Well-Being Plan recognizes the importance of this kind of community-based work, and the Region's Community Investment Fund provides funding to non-profit organizations delivering programs that support the health, safety and well-being of Halton residents.

Having spent many years working in community mental health and volunteering with local organizations, I understand how important these services are and how challenging it can be for organizations to build the capacity they need to meet growing community needs.

As Regional Councillor, I will bring my experience to the table and work to strengthen the connections between regional services and the local organizations that are doing this important work on the ground. I will also advocate for responsible investment in the services Georgetown residents rely on.

Thank you to Chris and Jodi and everyone at Ironwood for the incredibly important work you do. ❤️

Please take a moment to learn more about Ironwood and how you can support them.

It seems there is still some confusion.

Halton Hills has 48 officers applied to frontline policing duties, which does not represent all of the officers serving and protecting Halton Hills. (sergeants, traffic officers, tactical and K9 patrols, and more).

Across Districts, Halton Regional Police has 61-62 frontline officers per 100,000 people. Not total officers, just the frontline constables. By that math Halton Hills should have at least 42 frontline constables. Again, we have 48.

When you add in officers who come in and our of Halton Hills, as needed, the number is closer to 100.

Halton Hills is not being short-changed by Halton Regional Police, and we should all seriously question why there are candidates who want you to feel treated unfair or to feel unsafe. You have a right to be informed, and the police should not be made out to be villains for how they are assigning resources to protect us in one of the safest communities in Canada. Yes more can always be done, but distorting numbers to misrepresent how Halton Regional Police assigns resources to Halton Hills is not the answer.

This is a clip from May 11, 2026 where Halton Police explains to Town Council our staffing levels. All currently sitting councillors were there. There should be no confusion.

I first met Siamak in 2023, when we began bringing together members of different faith communities from across Halton Hills to form the Halton Hills Interfaith Community. I helped organize and facilitate those first meetings, and Siamak quickly became a valued member of the group’s leadership team. He has since taken on the role of committee chair.

The Halton Hills Interfaith Community brings people of different faiths together to build understanding, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities to learn from one another. It is about recognizing both the traditions that make our communities unique and the values we share.

Siamak has been an important part of that work. He took the lead on bringing our community together to celebrate World Religion Day, and he took on the responsibility of organizing the event in a way that made space for every faith community and encouraged people to work together.

I am very grateful that those first meetings in 2023 led to a friendship and an opportunity to work alongside Siamak. I value his leadership, his thoughtful approach and, above all, his commitment to building understanding and relationships across our faith communities.

Thank you, Siamak, for your friendship and for everything you continue to do to bring people together in Halton Hills.

Happy Franco-Ontarian Day!
(Le français suit)

I grew up here in Georgetown, in our French-speaking community, at Sacré-Cœur school and church.

For me, speaking French isn’t just a way of communicating. It keeps me connected to my roots, my history, and the generations who came before me.

I’m really grateful for all those who continue to keep our language and culture alive here in our community.

When I think about my ancestors who arrived here more than 400 years ago, I think about the courage it must have taken to step into the unknown.
They helped build the communities we know today.

And now, it’s our turn to take care of what they left us and pass our heritage on to the generations who will follow.

Happy Franco-Ontarian Day, everyone! 💚🤍

—————————————————

There is rarely a cause as worthy as caring for our seniors—our moms and dads.

The Bennett Centre in Georgetown is the only not-for-profit long-term care facility in Halton Hills with over 300 people on their waitlist. Today they launched their capital campaign for a new facility with 192 beds.

I was proud to vote for the 2024 budget package which included the healthcare levy that can now be used to provide unique support for residents of Halton Hills. Municipal contributions toward long-term care constructions are rare, which is just another reason why Halton Hills stands out as the community we know and love.

Something this important takes the generosity of the community to ensure our seniors can remain close to the places and people they love. As a not-for-profit, the Bennett Village is essentially owned by the people of Halton Hills, for the people of Halton Hills.

Importantly, the Bennett is not part of the Georgetown Hospital so while donations and support for the hospital are also important, they do not contribute to the Bennett's long-term care facility.

Please consider them in your donation planning, and if you know any local trades people who can contribute to this project, have them reach out to the Bennett Village team directly!

All politics is local, and you can’t get more local than your front door!

It was such a wonderful day talking with people across Georgetown right at their doors about the issues that concern them. Today I heard a lot about the need for more coordination between the Town and Region on construction, and I could not agree more.

Sinclair is a great example of duplicate work when the Town does one road improvement project and then Region does a separate one on the same road shortly after. With the right coordination, they could happen at the same time and at a smaller expense. I will push for better alignment whenever possible.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to talk to me, especially those of you who took signs today. If you would like a sign for your lawn let me know!!! #haltonhills #georgetownontario #haltonhillsvotes #votegarneau taken in Georgetown, Ontario by @votegarneau

I am deeply honoured to have the support of Paul Henderson and Flo Bellman.

I have known Paul and Flo for many years, and I have enormous respect for the strength they have shown in turning unimaginable loss into advocacy for other families.

Their daughter, Darian Henderson-Bellman, was 25 years old when she was murdered in 2020. Since then, Paul and Flo have worked tirelessly to raise awareness about intimate partner violence, advocate for changes to our justice system, and make sure other families do not experience what theirs has.

They have also been very clear with me about something that matters deeply to them: they want Darian's name to continue to be spoken. As a daughter, a loved one, and a young woman whose life mattered.

I have also seen first-hand how much the support of our police services has meant to them. Halton and Peel police have stood with the Henderson family through an incredibly difficult journey, and Paul and Flo have been strong advocates for giving our police the tools and support they need to protect people experiencing IPV.

Their advocacy has reached far beyond Georgetown. They have brought Darian's story to Parliament in Ottawa, spoken directly with elected officials, and through their testimony on Bill C-225, which passed unanimously and received Royal Assent on June 17, 2025, helped bring changes to better protect victims and families. Their voices have helped keep IPV and the need for meaningful justice reform in the conversation. Together, all our voices can make a difference.

I am proud to call Paul and Flo my friends, stand with them, to listen to them, and to continue saying Darian's name.
