Louisiana is the wrongful conviction capital of the world. Nearly 1,000 people remain in prison after being convicted by non-unanimous juries, where not every juror agreed on guilt. The Supreme Court ruled non-unanimous verdicts unconstitutional, yet prosecutors continue to oppose efforts to give people a chance to challenge these convictions.

Ryan Thompson understands these failures are more than statistics. Growing up in Louisiana, he knows the challenges our communities face and how a justice system that fails our people impacts entire families. We need leadership that listens to the community, believes in accountability and second chances, and understands that public safety requires collective solutions.

After 18 years under Hillar Moore, it is time for a new direction. Ryan Thompson is ready to help build a safer, more just, and more sustainable Baton Rouge.

On November 3, vote Ryan Thompson for District Attorney. by @votersorganized

🚨 Endorsement Alert 🚨

Voters Organized to Educate is proud to endorse Leon Roché for New Orleans Criminal Court Judge Section H.

When Jeff Landry targeted Judge Rhonda Goode-Douglas’s seat, Judge Leon Roché gave up his own rather than run against her. Leon chose community over political ambition. That sacrifice showed Leon’s character, integrity and judgment. Our judiciary needs to be in touch with the people and the community. They have the power to condemn someone to die in prison or set someone on a rehabilitative path. It’s time to move on from the generation of lawyers who ran this system into the ground since the 1980s.

Tired of the bills being too high? Part of it is our regulators taking money from the companies they oversee. Republican Candidate Stephanie Hilferty has received approximately $137,000 in campaign contributions from the very same utilities that she would be in charge of regulating if elected. If a Candidate’s donor list reads like Entergy’s annual holiday party list, how can politicians put people first when utility companies are funding their campaigns?

Chris Justin is the independent candidate: an engineer with an energy grid background who refuses to take money from Entergy, Delta, and others. He won’t let these companies run circles around him or rely on their lobbyists to tell him how to vote. Anyone who meets him learns that Chris isn’t shy about exposing the tactics these companies use to bleed us dry.
