My mind feels the weighted pressure of time moving faster with each day that passes. I logically understand this is best for growth but my heart bursts at the seams because of the change, love and pain it comes into contact with. This winter has been endless. But the work never stops. For the me that is observing this and the art I’m lucky to make.
I feel nervous as well as excited. Mainly because this year I’ve chosen to be myself. Which sounds easy enough. But myself is just a person. And people are people are people are people.

Post the great purge of Tumblr 2018, I buried my love and any hope of resurgence for the blogosphere deep into my mental archive. Only occasionally opening my 12-year-old USB flash drive for a solitary lament about an era short-lived. You can imagine my surprise when the long-form space, Substack, started being regularly mentioned to me over the last two years. So, here we go again. Another medium I’m diving into in hopes of connecting.
This monthly newsletter is for sharing thoughts and observations. Aside from my very first one, the goal is for it to be read in one sitting.

I like to believe I’m a filmmaker and actor with some ties to production and psychoanalysis, so there may be a smorgasbord of topics to sift through. If you enjoy the mind, film, travel, cities, art, people, relationships, community, roots and culture, distributed in an imperfect fifth draft, with a smidge of juvenile expression, welcome to vournalist.

This last spring, I took a Euro trip I had conceived in my button brain nearly 10 years ago. Except it breezed into my reality through the transportation of train. A form of moving that most humans used just a generation or two ago.
It’s fascinating to reflect upon. I regularly got stranded in the middle of nowhere, lost. But the kindness of the universe through a stranger met me over and over again. Aren’t we all lost objects until a face to face encounter with another soul?

Elated to share my short film ‘Almost Fantasy’, a story about the feelings that arise during transitions, will be released on @nobudge on March 14.
