"The Bad Guy" never turned down a fight. ๐ŸฅŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Chael Sonnen's career proves it. While internet critics try to discredit his record, Sonnen stepped into the cage with some of the most dangerous men in combat sports history: Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Fedor Emelianenko, Rampage Jackson and Wanderlei Silva, across multiple organizations. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

At UFC 117 in 2010, he dominated Anderson Silva for nearly five rounds before being caught with a triangle armbar late in the fifth. He challenged Silva again two years later, then took on Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title at UFC 159. Later, in Bellator, he beat Wanderlei Silva at Madison Square Garden in 2017 and Rampage Jackson in 2018, both by unanimous decision, then took on the legendary Fedor Emelianenko. He also submitted Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in 2013. โšก

Sonnen combined relentless NCAA Division I wrestling pressure with unprecedented promotional charisma. He revolutionized trash talk and built a following that turned him into one of the biggest names in the sport, and he took the fights nobody else wanted. ๐ŸŽค

Seeing his record against these killers highlights why true fight fans respect his legacy as one of the most fearless and captivating figures to ever grace MMA. ๐Ÿ™Œ

David "The Mexican Monster" Benavidez is making boxing history. ๐Ÿ‘‘๐ŸฅŠ

The undefeated American (32-0, 26 KOs) is a three-division world champion celebrated for his relentless high-volume pressure and devastating combination punching. In 2017, at just 20 years old, he became the youngest super middleweight champion in boxing history, beating Ronald Gavril on September 8. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Inside the ring, Benavidez fights with an oppressive style: a heavy jab, rapid hand speed for a big man and continuous body-head combinations that systematically wear down opponents. His reฬsumeฬ features dominant wins over world-class fighters, including Caleb Plant, Demetrius Andrade, Oleksandr Gvozdyk and David Morrell Jr. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

After winning the WBC light heavyweight title, he moved up another 25 pounds on May 2, 2026, and knocked out Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez in the sixth round to win the WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles. That made him the first fighter ever to win world titles at super middleweight, light heavyweight and cruiserweight, and he called out Canelo Alvarez, who was sitting ringside. โšก

Backed by an incredible knockout-to-win ratio, "El Monstro" remains a top pound-for-pound star and one of the biggest draws in the sport today. ๐Ÿ†

Conor McGregor: the biggest name MMA has ever seen. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐ŸฅŠ

Conor McGregor is an Irish MMA superstar and former UFC champion, celebrated for his sharp striking, bold personality and unmatched ability to draw attention. Born on July 14, 1988, in Dublin, he went from working as a plumbing apprentice to becoming one of the most recognizable figures in combat sports. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

McGregor made UFC history as the first fighter to hold championships in two weight divisions at the same time, winning the featherweight title and then the lightweight title at UFC 205 in 2016. His 13-second knockout of Joseฬ Aldo at UFC 194 remains the fastest finish in UFC title-fight history. โšก

Along the way, he's had legendary rivalries with Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov, whose UFC 229 showdown in 2018 drew 2.4 million pay-per-view buys, the most ever for an MMA event. In 2017 he crossed into boxing to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a blockbuster bout, and although he lost by TKO in the 10th round, it attracted worldwide attention. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

After five years away, McGregor returned to the Octagon on July 11, 2026, at UFC 329 against Max Holloway, but a knee injury ended the fight in the first round. He has since said he'll have surgery and come back for the last fight on his UFC contract. His record stands at 22-7. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Famous for his fearless trash talk, immense confidence and devastating left hand, McGregor has left a lasting mark on MMA and made himself one of the sport's most commercially successful athletes. ๐Ÿ’ฐ

The biggest, most personal fight in UFC history. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸฅŠ

The rivalry between Conor "The Notorious" McGregor and Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 stands as one of the most intensely personal fights in combat sports history. Driven by bitter animosity, insults to family and culture, and the infamous Brooklyn bus incident in April 2018, the clash pitted the sport's most transcendent knockout artist against its most dominant, undefeated Dagestani wrestler. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

On October 6, 2018, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Khabib systematically executed his suffocating grappling game, imposing relentless top control and even dropping McGregor with a sharp right hand in round two. McGregor rallied briefly in the third, but Khabib dragged the fight back down in the fourth and secured a neck crank that forced the Irish superstar to tap out at 3:03. โšก

Immediately following the submission, the hostility boiled over. Khabib leaped over the cage to go after McGregor's teammate Dillon Danis, triggering an unprecedented post-fight brawl inside and outside the Octagon. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The event shattered the pay-per-view record with 2.4 million buys, and Khabib improved to 27-0 while retaining his lightweight title. It permanently cemented his dominance and marked the absolute peak of modern MMA spectacle. ๐Ÿ†

Khabib vs McGregor: the fight that stopped the world. ๐ŸฅŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Conor McGregor faced Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229 on October 6, 2018, in Las Vegas, in one of the most heated rivalries in MMA history. The tension had been building for months, and on fight night it all came to a head. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Khabib used relentless grappling and suffocating ground control to dominate much of the fight. He dropped McGregor with a right hand in Round 2 and wore him down with constant pressure, while McGregor's brief rally in the third wasn't enough to change the story. โšก

In the fourth round, Khabib secured a neck crank and forced McGregor to tap at 3:03, successfully defending his lightweight title and improving to 27-0. ๐Ÿ†

The fight ended in chaos. Khabib jumped over the cage to confront McGregor's teammate Dillon Danis, sparking a post-fight brawl inside and outside the Octagon that became one of the most infamous moments in UFC history. The event drew 2.4 million pay-per-view buys, the most ever for an MMA card. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

"Strickland defended all of Pereira's kicks." ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸฅŠ

That's the sarcastic caption on this clip from UFC 276, and the video tells a different story. Every time Alex Pereira throws a low kick, it lands cleanly on Sean Strickland's lead leg, so the joke is really about how Strickland couldn't check them. ๐Ÿฆต

Pereira repeatedly chops away at the lead leg and body while Strickland keeps his signature upright, pressure-heavy Philly Shell stance without adjusting his footwork. The relentless leg kicks draw Strickland's focus low and compromise his mobility, setting the stage for what comes next. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

At 2:36 of the first round on July 2, 2022, Pereira landed his infamous short left hook, followed by a right hand that finished the fight. Strickland, the No. 4 ranked middleweight on a six-fight win streak, went down to a fighter who was still unranked at 3-0 in the UFC. Pereira went on to win the middleweight title from Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 that November. โšก

Strickland would have the last laugh in his own way: in May 2026, he beat Khamzat Chimaev by split decision at UFC 328 to win the middleweight title. ๐Ÿ†

Did Strickland's stance ever have a chance against Pereira's kicks? Tell us below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Khalil Rountree Jr. fights with the kind of power that can change everything in a single exchange. ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐ŸฅŠ

His explosive striking, dangerous kicks and relentless aggression make every moment of his fights feel unpredictable. He knocked out Modestas Bukauskas with a kick in 2021, finished Karl Roberson in just 25 seconds in 2022, and stopped Chris Daukaus and Anthony Smith in 2023. โšก

He has built his name by embracing the chaos and stepping into the fire against elite competition. In October 2024, he challenged Alex Pereira for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 307, and the five-round war, which ended with a fourth-round TKO loss, was named Fight of the Night. In June 2025 he bounced back with a unanimous decision over Jamahal Hill, dropping him in the fight. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

When Rountree finds his rhythm, one clean shot can completely change the fight. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Yoel Romero looks like he was built in a laboratory. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ฅ

But the story behind "The Soldier of God" goes way deeper than his unbelievable physique. Born in Pinar del Riฬo, Cuba, Romero began formal wrestling training in 1990 and rose through the ranks of Cuba's elite wrestling system, a country with a long tradition of producing world-class combat sports athletes. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡บ

In 1999, he won the freestyle wrestling world championship, beating 1996 Olympic gold medalist Khadzhimurad Magomedov in the final. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, he captured a silver medal for Cuba, losing the final to Adam Saitiev, and he returned in 2004 to finish fourth. That's not an accident, that's elite. ๐Ÿฅ‡

After defecting from Cuba in 2007, Romero moved into mixed martial arts and brought that foundation with him, adding explosive striking, brutal punches and frightening athleticism. In the UFC, he started 8-0 with knockouts of Lyoto Machida, Chris Weidman, and Luke Rockhold. Fans watched him launch flying knees, land devastating knockouts and survive dangerous exchanges with the best middleweights in the world. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

His battles with Robert Whittaker (two close fights, UFC 213 and UFC 225) and Paulo Costa helped establish him as one of the most intimidating fighters of his generation, and he stayed dangerous well into his late thirties. โšก

Romero's story isn't about a superhuman created overnight. It's about early athletic development, years of elite wrestling, relentless training and a rare combination of power, speed and coordination. By the time he entered the UFC, he was already a world-class athlete. The cage just gave the world a chance to see what decades of preparation had produced. ๐Ÿ™Œ

The UFC's Golden Era was unlike anything the sport had seen. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸฅŠ

The "Golden Era" of the UFC is widely considered by fight fans to span from the late 2000s through the mid-2010s, a transformative period marked by unmatched star power, rapid global expansion and the rise of dominant world champions. ๐Ÿ†

It started with a bold bet. In 2001, the Fertitta brothers and Dana White bought a nearly bankrupt UFC for a reported $2 million through Zuffa. Then The Ultimate Fighter's popularity boom in 2005 changed everything, and the UFC absorbed major rival promotions like PRIDE, WEC and Strikeforce. That consolidation brought the world's absolute best mixed martial artists under one roof, leading to iconic events like UFC 100 in 2009 and delivering unprecedented depth across every weight class. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

What truly defined this era was the reign of legendary, long-tenured champions: the prime years of pound-for-pound greats like Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Jon Jones, Jose Aldo and Cain Velasquez, whose technical mastery raised the sport's athletic standard. โšก

The momentum culminated in a massive culture shift, as crossover superstars like Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor launched MMA into global pop culture. By July 2016, the company that sold for $2 million in 2001 was sold for roughly $4 billion, cementing the UFC as a premier worldwide sports property. ๐ŸŒ

Which fighter defined the Golden Era for you? Tell us below ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿšจ๐ŸฅŠ THE ONLY LOSS THAT BUILT A CHAMPION ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿฆ…

October 3, 2015, UFC 192 in Houston. Islam Makhachev was 12-0, in just his second UFC fight, and carrying the weight of being Khabib Nurmagomedov's closest training partner. Then Adriano Martins landed a perfect counter right hook, knocking him out 1:46 into the first round and earning Performance of the Night. It remains the only loss of his professional career. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Instead of breaking him, it forged him. That night became the turning point. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

What followed was a historic 17-fight win streak, the longest in UFC history, passing Anderson Silva. Makhachev captured the lightweight title in October 2022, defended it four times, then moved up to welterweight in November 2025 and beat Jack Della Maddalena to become a two-division champion. In August, he defended that belt against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330, and he sits atop the pound-for-pound rankings. ๐Ÿ†

One loss. Then pure greatness. ๐Ÿฆ…

Was that knockout the best thing to ever happen to Makhachev? Tell us below ๐Ÿ‘‡

MMA vs Boxing: the debate that never ends. ๐ŸฅŠ๐Ÿฅ‹

It's one of combat sports' biggest arguments, but the answer changes completely depending on which rules the fighters compete under. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Boxing is built around punching, footwork, head movement, timing, combinations and defensive technique. MMA introduces a much wider arsenal, including kicks, wrestling, takedowns, clinch fighting, submissions and ground-and-pound. ๐Ÿ’ฅ

That difference can completely change a matchup. An elite boxer may have world-class hands and devastating power, but an experienced MMA fighter can attack from multiple ranges and force the fight into areas boxing does not allow. Under boxing rules, the skill set and strategy are completely different. Under MMA rules, fighters must prepare for striking, wrestling and grappling at the same time. ๐Ÿง

That's why crossover fights create so much debate. In 2017, Floyd Mayweather stopped Conor McGregor in the 10th round of their boxing match. In October 2023, Tyson Fury beat Francis Ngannou by split decision in Riyadh, despite being dropped in the third round. And in March 2024, Anthony Joshua knocked Ngannou out in the second round. The gloves, distance, rules, conditioning and available techniques can all change the outcome. โšก

Two elite combat athletes. Two completely different skill sets.

If an elite MMA fighter faced an elite boxer under MMA rules, who would you pick? ๐Ÿ‘€

Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustafsson remains one of the greatest fights in MMA history. ๐ŸฅŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ

On September 21, 2013, at UFC 165 in Toronto, Gustafsson challenged the longtime light heavyweight champion and pushed him further than anyone before him. He matched Jones strike for strike, landing 110 significant strikes, and stuffed 10 of Jones' 11 takedown attempts. He even became the first man to take Jones down in the UFC. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

For five intense rounds, momentum kept shifting. After three rounds, the feeling inside the arena was that Jones' title might be slipping away. Then the champion dug deep, landing spinning elbows, knees and kicks late in the fight and finally scoring a takedown in round five. โšก

In the end, Jones relied on championship experience and grit to survive the war, winning a unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46). It was his sixth consecutive title defense, a light heavyweight record that passed Tito Ortiz. ๐Ÿ†

The fight left both men battered but respected. It was named ESPN's 2013 Fight of the Year, and in 2020 it was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. It forever changed the legacy of the light heavyweight division. ๐Ÿ”ฅ
