POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My beautiful people,

I have decided I will not renew my subscription to the USA that ends towards the end of 2026. This has not been an easy decision and has not been taken lightly. I have lived here for 11 years and have met many amazing people. It was my pleasure to share my art with you and I will keep doing that, just from further away. Me, my husband, son and our two pups will be moving back to the Czech Republic. Currently, the timeline is around Xmas 2025. I am planning to do at least one art event so you can get all the earrings and boob totes! We will also be selling almost everything so watch this space and my stories to snag some good deals. And what is the plan in Czech Republic? Who knows. It may involve running an AirBNB, lot more art from me and @mellow.yell , probably some new jobs… Either way, you will know about it, because we will share it all with you. I love you all. I will see you around. ❤️❤️❤️

Hi, my name is Jana (pronounced Yana). I don't think I have ever done one of these "meet the artist" things so here it is.

I am originally from the Czech Republic. I have lived all over the place, but for the last 10 years I have been in the USA. My day job is in science-biology. Whenever I manage to get some free time-between a full time job and being a mom of a 5 year old troublemaker, I carve.

Woodcarving is a family thing. My grandpa was a woodcarver and puppet maker. My grandpa died before I was born, but I grew up surrounded by his marionettes. I always wanted to try carving and when I did (in my mid 20s) I was hooked. Eventually, my dad gave me grandpa's tools, which I still use. About three years ago I started carving regularly and started selling my art. And people actually buy it! Yay!

The name VRTELOUTKY is a combination of my surname (I kept my surname when I got married) which was also my grandpa's surname and the word "loutky", which means puppets. I wanted the name to reflect the family heritage.

Anyway, thank you for stopping by and If you made it this far, please like and hit follow. This app is brutal to artists.

Bye

Jana

Everyone, meet Rudy's little sister Ziggy- full name Ziggy Stardust. We just adopted her, so she is very scared. She is about three years old, stumpy and adorable. That is how we roll.

Xmas Gift 2025.
Every year I make Niko a gift for Xmas. Since we moved to a different country and I don't have a workshop yet, I had to improvise. If you have a neurospicy kid you have probably seen a version of this. This is Niko's school schedule. He decided how each lesson/ break is represented using Minecraft designs (because Minecraft is life) and they attach to the board with magnetic tape. This way he is able to see at what point in the day he is and what is the plan for the day.

Yesterday, I lost my shadow. My original baby, the first born, Biggie Smalls, Baby Smalls, Baby Boo went over the rainbow bridge yesterday. He got sick and rapidly declined. I am so gutted I didn't get to squeeze him one more time. He was supposed to come on this adventure with us and live forever. Thank you to my amazing husband for having to make some very hard decisions. I will miss you, my Baby Smalls. by @vrteloutky
