We’re so excited to announce the schedule of the Filipino Canadian Book Festival. The festival will take place at @museumofvan and @vscreativelab on August 14-17. All events are free to attend but you must RSVP! Please visit museumofvancouver.ca or filcanbookfest.com to register now!Featuring 30 creatives and writers across over two days at the Museum, the Museum is also a family friendly environment and admission to their galleries will be discounted when you RSVP through their website, so bring the whole family! All festival events are free and you do not need to RSVP for our marketplace happening on August 15 at the Museum!We also have an opening party on the 14th and a free Baybayin Workshop with @sulatcollective at VS Creative Labs on the 17th. Participants in the workshop will work together and create a community art piece, more details to come!!Our festival’s exclusive bookseller is @irondogbooks! Each purchase helps support our festival and the bookshop! You can find the booklist for our festival on their website and you can buy the books onsite at the Museum during our festival.We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. From the bottom of my heart, thank you ALL for coming out to REORGANISA. 🥺Looking back at the energy from last week, I’m truly overwhelmed by the love in this community. Whether you were cheering someone on as they worked through a tough route or just taking the time to sit, talk, and simply be present, it was beautiful to see everyone show up for themselves and for each other.This space was built for everyone; from those taking their very first steps on the wall to our seasoned climbers. It’s so much more than just physical progression; it’s about the mental health benefits of having a safe place to land, connect, and breathe. Watching you all share that kind of vulnerability and support reminds me that we’re building something that truly nurtures our well-being.There was such a special Filipino spirit felt throughout the event, a true sense of bayanihan, that core commitment of community helping community—that made everything feel like home.Huge shoutout to the @vscreativelab for helping curate this energy, to the @kabangkacanada team for all the support, @progressionbouldering for hosting and to @baldyloxvintage for bringing such a unique atmosphere to the space. Floral Fairy 🧚‍♀️ 🌼 or Baddie in Bloom 😈 🌺?Abby of @bubuka.ca hosted a Petals & Portraits session in our space, showing participants how to get create their own floral adornments.
