One of the highlights of attending the 50th Southwest Regional Conference was meeting Loki Mulholland.

During our conversation, I asked her a simple but profound question:
“If you had the opportunity to do it all over again, would you?” Without hesitation, her answer was, “Absolutely.”

I then asked what message she would share with the young people of today. Her response was powerful, thought-provoking, and filled with wisdom that transcends generations.

As we celebrate our 50th Southwest Regional Conference, sisterhood, scholarship, and social action, her words remind us that progress is never accidental—it requires courage, commitment, and people willing to stand for something greater than themselves.

The journey into Delta Land has truly been a full-circle experience.
You may know me as Vicki Smith-Lockhart, but in Delta Land I am known as Elegant Intellect #18 of the Metropolitan Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Let’s just say, I never imagined I would be initiated at 51, just a few weeks away from 52. But one thing I know for sure is that what is for you is for you, and it will happen in God’s timing. Looking back, I don’t know that I could have fully appreciated the meaning of what it means to be a Delta any sooner than now.
For me, this journey has been a refining process. This experience has reminded me that God wastes nothing. Every season, every lesson, every delay, and every step has led me right here.
Full circle. Full grace. Full gratitude.
