Thanks to everyone who stopped by to wander the halls of my mind @badalicegeneva for @genevailchamber first Art explosion. I can’t say enough great things about this partnership and how it was so fitting for myself as an artist.
I had one goal in mind when creating this experience it was to get others to see themselves without the mask. I can proudly say that people could feel the depths of my work! Getting people to open up and let go is my objective every time I tell my story. Thanks to my friends for all of their support as it was not easy to do this being a working mom! I can’t wait to turn everyone’s shadows into art that hangs on future walls and to build up the connections I have made from this experience! “Big man on campus.” Looks tough on the outside but is beyond weak on the inside. The more we ignore sexual assault the more men continue to do it. It is disgusting that men get to still walk around after assaulting a woman while women have to hide in silence, out of fear their stories won’t be believed. As a woman who has been sexually assaulted throughout her lifetime and had to remain silent, the pain never ever goes away. It is stored inside of our bodies. So the fact that men just get to write a letter and all is forgiven is beyond mortifying. #supportsurvivors by @vulnerablewitch

“Aunt flo.” A name given to a woman’s menstruation, to hide something considered still taboo. Every month women show up like they aren’t in pain, shedding their insides while having to hide what they are really going through for days at a time. Minimizing discussions can be harmful and lead to hate within ourselves. “Pattern recognition.” You can feel like you’re making so much progress until all of a sudden you are back in a pattern. “Gut feelings” Growing up I always knew something was off about my environment but no adult ever challenged the behaviors I was seeing. This, lead to suppression of my own feelings and normalizing ignoring the red flags in others. Going with my gut feelings in adulthood allows me to let my inner child be heard, that same child who absolutely knows right from wrong.
