Celebrating 43 years of St. Kitts & Nevis Independence. 🇰🇳

I brought our landmarks, landscapes, national colours and culture together inside the number 43 to create one proud visual of home.

Swipe to see how the design came together.

I already had the foundation in mind: start with the main subject, the 43 and the flag then build out the composition by adding each element around them.

Adding more elements.

Merging added elements together and working them in to blend in.

Blending process, making it blend more and not just look flat and slapped on, especially with so much layers clashing.

Adding shadows and texture. Immediately started looking like it belonged. Few touches and scaling on the main text.

The final pass focused on cohesion and impact enhancing the colour grade, introducing subtle lens flares, and refining the lighting and tonal balance. These finishing details unified every layer and gave the composition the bold, polished presence the concept called for.

Did You Know💬

Nevis Peak is a dormant stratovolcano rising about 3,232 feet (985 m) above sea level it IS the island of Nevis, essentially. The island itself was formed entirely by this single volcanic mass many years ago.

When Christopher Columbus spotted the island in 1493, the cloud-capped peak reminded him of the snow-covered mountains of Spain, leading him to name it "Las Nieves" (The Snows) which eventually became Nevis.

The peak is frequently shrouded in clouds near the summit, giving it that mysterious, moody look you see here. It's a beloved hiking destination, with trails cutting through lush rainforest all the way to the top on a clear day, you can see neighboring St. Kitts, Antigua, Montserrat, and beyond.

The volcano last showed significant activity thousands of years ago, but hot springs around the island are a reminder that it's still very much alive beneath the surface. 🌋
