I loved my two-year pause, living, exploring, and eating lots. But being back in the kitchen, creating long tables, cooking with friends and family, and working with beautiful California ingredients feels better than ever.

A little chapter from my time in France ✨

Right before moving back to LA, I spent a week in Roanne doing the Mons Affinage course — learning about cheese aging, tasting, and the slow, beautiful science behind it from people who really, really know their cheese.

It changed the way I cook and think about food: more patience, more intuition, more respect for the process.

Now that I’m back in LA, all of that is coming with me — into my cooking, my menus, my tables, and my events.

Latin food, a French detour, and whatever feels delicious in the moment — 🧀

This was my lunch today and I’m giving split peas the spotlight they deserve, because they are one of my very favorite things to cook/eat. They are delicious, comforting, nutritious and if you come to my house regularly you have probably had them (sorry if you don’t like them) and they are good for you :)

Also I think it’s ok to make them when people come over for dinner, it’s like giving people love💚. Ok chao, this is the problem of eating by yourself lol taken in Paris, France by @vz_la_

I moved Dec 2, we packed our house at least 1 week before that. So after (I don’t know many days) I had my first Arepa today. Now I see this picture and it reminds me of the pictures my Dad used to send me🥹 simple and perfect. It’s good day! taken in Paris, France by @vz_la_
