I read this poetry book in one sitting.

The lead poem, “Nightingale”, is a sprawling multi-part tome of the conjoined twins sold out of slavery (Millie & Christine McKoy) At 10 months old to showmen, and eventually PT Barnum.

It’s a fucking heartbreaker, and an all-around phenomenal book. by @w.t.newton

A little over halfway through this newer novel. Thoroughly enjoying it. It tackles a lot of really important shit (see: addiction, grief, loneliness) within a story of a woman going back to her family’s ancestral cabin buried in the WI Northwoods, years after her mother’s disappearance.

Not a page turner as much as a slow and introspective burner, and the prose is gorgeous. The sense of place and depth of nature are immaculate too.

I recommend.

One time, My old friend Paul Weber wrote one of the freshest, most earnest, unique Country records I’ve ever heard. I still listen to it at least once a month.

True top 10 material, and I’ll stand on Charley Crockett’s coffee table in my Redwings and tell him that.

When I put paper to pen on the first record deal I ever signed, it was sitting next to my best friend and bandmate on one side, and my good buddy Wayne on the other. Wayne was more than just our label mate, he was a best pal and road dawg brother. We traveled many a highway together, and shared even more stages.

One time, we partied way too hard the night before the show, and Nate passed out right before we were slated to load in (with all the merch in his car too). Wayne learned our entire set on upright bass, and played alongside us that night. Wayne was as much County Graves as any of us.

We used to drive out to Giant City and sit at the top of Stonefort together. We’d smoke a joint, and watch the birds for hours. We’d talk about our kids. About our dreams.

Wayne was the best of us, and I’ll miss him tremendously. I’m so sad that we didn’t have more time together to make more memories, and I’ll always regret life getting in the way.

I love you, my brother.
You’ve got your mansion now.
