My new album, The Version of Me You Get, is out now. I made this record with one of my best friends, @sean_mcconnell, during a time when none of us knew what came next. Six years later, these songs mean more to me than they did when we made them. I’m glad the record finally found its time. Hope y’all find something in it too. by @wadebowen

Going back to some of these places will get you thinking.
A lot’s changed since I first picked up a guitar and decided to give this music thing a shot. Hell, Lost Hotel turns 20 soon. But I’m still excited about what’s ahead, still writing songs, still figuring things out as I go.
Turns out there are a lot of versions of you between where you start and wherever you’re headed.

Release week in Nashville was a busy one. Somewhere between press and shows, I found a little time to get my band, @sean_mcconnell, and @dantyminski together at Sean’s studio to shoot the “Weight On The Levee” video.

A few behind-the-scenes shots from the day. The full video arrives later this month.

A week I won’t forget.

After carrying these songs with me for a long time, The Version Of Me You Get is finally out in the world. Getting to spend release week playing them, talking about where they came from, and hearing what they’re starting to mean to y’all has been pretty special.

There are a lot of years and a lot of life wrapped up in this record. Thanks for giving it a home.

Stepping into the Circle always feels like the first time and this one was pretty damn special.

Got to sing “West Texas Rain,” “People Like Us,” and “How Great Thou Art” at the Grand Ole Opry, with my mom and some family making the long road trip all the way from Texas to be there.

Hard to put a night like that into words. I’m so very grateful for the @opry for having me back, and even more grateful I got to share it with family. Always a magical experience on the greatest stage in country music. What an honor!

Sean McConnell and I have been writing songs and making music together for a long time. This record started with the two of us in his studio back in 2020, with no real plan other than to follow the songs and see where they took us.

Six years later, The Version Of Me You Get is finally out in the world.

Here’s a little more about how we made it. by @wadebowen
