In this powerful episode, I had the honour of sitting down with Pastor Wade and his beautiful wife Sera Mataira as they openly share their journey of faith, marriage, and redemption.

Sera reflects on being raised in the church yet realising she did not have a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ. Wade shares the challenges of growing up in a divorced household without a godly example of marriage before him. Together, they speak candidly about the struggles they faced in their own marriage, the pain, frustrations, and moments when they questioned whether their marriage could survive.

Through God’s grace, both Wade and Sera came to a place of complete surrender. Rather than trying to change each other, they allowed the Lord to transform their own hearts. What followed was a beautiful work of restoration as God rebuilt their marriage on a firm biblical foundation.

This episode is a powerful reminder that no matter your upbringing, your past, or the challenges facing your marriage, God is able to redeem, restore, and make all things new when we fully submit our lives to Him.

A husband’s leadership will only ever be as strong as his dependence upon Christ.

In this podcast episode, Pastor Wade shares his journey as a husband and father, from not growing up in the church, to not having a godly role model to demonstrate biblical manhood, to learning that leading a home cannot be done apart from Christ.

One of the things that stood out to me most was the importance of godly men. Every husband needs faithful men around him who love Christ, honour their wives, and are willing to speak truth into his life. Too many men try to lead in isolation, yet Scripture tells us that “iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17).

The men you surround yourself with will influence the direction of your marriage, your family, and your walk with God. Godly men will challenge you when you are drifting, encourage you when you are weary, hold you accountable when you fall short, and continually point you back to Christ. Every husband needs brothers who will help him fight for holiness, faithfulness, and obedience to the Lord.

We also discuss the importance of retreating to spend time with God. Jesus Himself often withdrew to lonely places to pray. A husband cannot effectively lead his wife and children if he is spiritually empty. Strength for leadership is not found in self-reliance but in abiding in Christ.

The strongest husbands are not those who have it all together. They are the men who know they need God every single day and who humble themselves enough to walk alongside other godly men.

Men, do not try to do this alone.

Surround yourself with godly men.
Spend time with the Lord.
Lead your family from a place of dependence upon Christ.
