Threads are playful in the way they could create shapes, and forms showing us how one could be shaped by the spaces, memories, experiences, and dreams that form connections within & without that are very much alive, and present.
Humans were thought of as the most resilient beings, they could either hold on to certain threads too tightly that they start to loose their flexible nature creating weak stiff threads that could break at any moment. Humans could also create living threads that can carry, release, transform or be shaped. Remembering their original form they could expand, contract, take in, and pause.

To All My Relations is an experimental piece I collaborated on with the talented: @wadood_____ . I wrote n recorded a piece then had Karim respond with a mix. The mix also functions as an erasure poem where he incorporated recorded excerpts that resonated from the original writing. Together, we created an @aredotna to enliven the theme of gathering as relating with images and videos. From the images we sourced together, I wrote another piece that I felt suited the overall vibe. It’s a layered experience that I encourage folks to take their time with. Please check it out on @substack and @aredotna or Lincoln in b!0 by @wadood_____

We are so moved and inspired by folks’ energy and passion for being in community. Thank you to all who attended for making the conference such a memorable and enriching experience!

Special thank you to dublab radio for empowering us to host this at their space and for working tirelessly to provide meaningful programming and opportunities for DJs and the nightlife and arts community in LA. If you are able, consider supporting by becoming a member to keep independent radio in Los Angeles thriving!

We are a 100% grassroots project, funded entirely by ticket sales and organizers’ personal funds. If you’d like to support our work, we are fundraising to help pay off the costs of producing the event. Please donate or share to help us meet our goal of $1,000. The conference was a resounding success in terms of our goal to bring folks together and address topics that concern our cultural spaces — and we nearly broke even! If you are able to offer additional support, contributions are greatly appreciated @peoplessoundsystem on Venmo.

It is in alignment with our values to pay every speaker, worker, rental and food vendor who dedicated their time, energy and expertise to hold such thoughtful and empowering discussions, set the space properly, and feed the people. We wouldn’t have been able to pull this off without you all. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.

If you identify as a nightlife cultural worker and would like to get involved with us, we welcome you to join our discord where we discuss similar topics, work on ongoing series/projects and share/support each other’s events.
