When this enquiry to do a Black Beauty cover came through I nearly fell off my chair 😆 I really don’t know if there’s a higher honour for me than to be asked to illustrate a beloved classic like this. Huge thanks to Puffin Classics for their exciting concept for this, and for giving me the freedom to create something strong and beautiful. I’m so proud to have been given the opportunity to do this! #blackbeautybook by @waffleandbear

Fellow fans of gloriously fluffy dogs, beautiful landscapes and heartwarming stories, guess what my next book out will be! 😄 This is the tale of gorgeous Grim, beautifully written by @sejsejlija and available to pre order now. I cannot tell you how stunning the references were for all of these pages, most of them taken by Cecilia herself! If you haven’t checked out Cecilia’s account please do, it’s magical ☺️ by @waffleandbear

Year of Horse energy 🐎✨

Steady, spirited and Strong.

The Chinese New Year is the year of the horse, the year we enter at a trot and leave at a gallop.

A little reminder that creativity isn’t always quiet. It can be independent, striking and moving at pace.

I most like it when it swishes its tail, lifts its chin… and becomes a show pony.

May this year bring you momentum, courage and the confidence to be seen.

These beautiful illustrations are by @laurelpettitt_, @waffleandbear, @theinvisiblecircle and Sue Reeves.

Suzie Mason (@waffleandbear) loved drawing as a child but left it behind to pursue a scientific path, studying astrophysics and then medical imaging at university.

While she loved learning about these fields, she found herself in a rut. On a whim she picked up an iPad and decided to learn digital art purely for fun and fell in love. Soon she was spending every spare moment teaching herself to make stylised, bright coloured art. A few years later, she dared to call herself an illustrator. She was signed to the Bright Agency and landed a celebrity book publication, which went on to become a New York Times #1 Best Seller! Over the last four years, she has illustrated picture books, greetings cards, book covers, and editorial pieces. Suzie recently moved back to the rural countryside with her husband and son. She works from home in a small English cottage, drawing the surrounding natural world.

Suzie is represented by @georgiatournay, take a look at her full portfolio on the Bright website. Link in our bio!
