My very last JAC !! (as a student anyways)
I've been so honored to grow up in the community I have, whether or not I've always recognized it or not. I've always been very quiet about my faith and, to be honest, not always been sure of it. But there came a point in my life where I couldn't deny that God had called me to a greater purpose and had always been my protector from the very beginning. "Was I kind enough and good enough? Did I love enough?"

The first year I moved to JC, I spent a lot of time simply figuring things out—learning names, navigating new curriculum, finding my place. It felt like I had entered an entirely new life, and I often wondered what people thought of me… if they thought of me at all. I felt younger than I was—not because of age, but because of all the experience I lacked and the inside jokes I didn’t understand.

But the good ones—the right ones—stuck around. They welcomed me, showed me the ropes, and introduced me to their people until eventually, I became one of them.

It’s hard to explain just how much has changed in a year. And while I know that life will shift again once I walk across a different stage and take a fancy piece of paper, I’m not nearly as scared as I used to be.

If I could sit down with every younger version of myself, I'd tell her that it does, in fact, get better. This senior year has been the best year of my life, and for that I thank my family, Mrs. Patel, and all the friends I've made along the way.

Mrs. Patel always tells us we grow up asking the wrong question. It’s not “What do I want to be when I grow up?” but rather, “What can’t I live without?”

The community I’ve found—one I’ve been quietly searching for since I was a little girl—has given me more than I ever could’ve asked for. I can’t thank Mrs. Patel, Mr. Comer, or JCT enough for helping me realize this passion and giving me every opportunity to follow it.

I’ll never be able to explain the love and pride I have for this program, this show, and the people who have made it home.💫❤️

"just because something ends, that don't mean it wasn't a great success"

it's bittersweet. it really is. it's been such a joy to connect with my cast and the audience in such a beautiful + authentic way. i'm proud of each and every one of us and our hard work, cast and crew alike, and simply overwhelmed by the theatre family that has welcomed me with so much love and acceptance. my first and last one act has been a success, not because it won, but because i am doing what i love with the people i love. all the thanks in the world to ms. amy patel and mr. bryan comer for allowing us as students and performers to lean into our own creativity rather than solely relying on yours, and for guiding us with more patience and kindness than we deserve. thank you all so so much, and i'm happy that cullman and bob jones got the recognition they deserved. by @waitisthatbrooke
