Woke up super early to marvel at the beautiful sunrise colours of the morning…so present, not wanting to be anywhere else, completely in the moment and completely at peace. Over the last year I’ve learnt that you can manifest whatever you want in life, but if you aren’t fully present for it, then it is wasted. As I wrap up my last couple of months at Lake Atitlan, I make a promise to myself to enjoy even more moments like these this year, so full in my heart, my soul and mind fully in my body with immense gratitude and appreciation for this life I am creating.

Earlier this year, I flew to Africa for what was to be a fully curated, empowering women’s retreat, a space of sisterhood, support and adventure. Instead…what we walked into was nothing like what was promised, with everything falling apart shortly after we arrived.

But there’s a beautiful twist: When the plans crumbled, we didn’t (ok maybe a little 😅).

Using our intuition, a lot of courage and a much needed sense of humour that kept us sane for the weeks that followed, my friend Jessica and I decided to leave the tour and rewrite the story.

We crossed Africa together, from game drives to numerous long, bumpy and dusty roads, watching star filled skies, experiencing the kindness of strangers (including an uber driver we picked up along the way) and the beautiful African community, we turned a disaster into a story we will never forget…one built on resilience, laughter, awe, fear, courage, and some WILD moments that changed us forever. It’s not so much the animals that gave me the greatest memories, but the moments of complete surrender, tears, laughter, laying on the cold tiled floor in nothing but underwear because of the excruciating heat after a bumpy 7 hour jeep ride that nearly broke our backs and those ‘WTF are we doing’ moments (which there were plenty).

What started as a breakdown became one of the greatest stories of sisterhood, grit and true adventure that I’ve ever lived.

Africa gave us everything we didn’t know we needed: clarity, connection, power, LEADERSHIP and the freedom that comes when life refuses to go to plan. And most importantly, it taught us to walk away from what no longer serves us.

To Jessica…my ride or die on this trip, thank you. This trip showed me a side of your strength I hadn’t seen before, your vulnerability and your FIRE. Together we were powerful, brave, and real in a way that bonded us which I’ll treasure forever.

To the journey that tested us.
To the women who stood beside me & picked me up when I was also grieving my grandfather on this journey, thank you 🦋
To our own Thelma & Louise moment that we thankfully got out of alive 🤍🙏🏽✨
And to the many more adventures that are yet to come x
