Welcome to Waldorf Essentials!

I’m Melisa Nielsen, co-founder and author of Waldorf Essentials, a proud mother of five and have had the privilege of homeschooling all my children from the very beginning. I’m a lifelong student of Rudolf Steiner’s work with over 25 years of experience in Waldorf education.

If you are looking to homeschool with a Waldorf inspired curriculum, go at your own pace and truly be in charge of your child's education then you can find our Waldorf homeschool curriculum, from early childhood through class 9, at waldorfessentials.com.

I’m also on the founding ministry team of Auriel’s Light, an interfaith ministry rooted in Anthroposophy, where we honor a variety of spiritual paths and host free monthly gatherings.

You do not have to choose between your religious faith and a Waldorf education.

Remain strong in your family’s beliefs and observances while allowing your children to learn about the stories, traditions, and cultures of others. Learning what someone else believes does not require us to adopt those beliefs. It gives us an opportunity to understand, ask thoughtful questions, and return to what our own family believes.

Our children can learn to hold strong convictions while still treating others with love, curiosity, and dignity. Faith does not have to be fearful or fragile. It can be deeply rooted and still willing to listen. by @waldorf_essentials

Is Waldorf “open and go”? We understand wanting everything laid out so you can open the curriculum and know what to do. At Waldorf Essentials, we lay out the lessons clearly to help you do just that.

But Steiner’s approach asks us to look at the child in front of us. The depth comes when you, as the parent, take time to understand the content and bring it from your heart to your child. That’s what helps bring a lesson to life.

If something about Waldorf calls deeply to you, take a breath and give yourself time to learn. There’s so much you’ll gain along the way and so much you’ll be able to give your children. That’s a part of this education you wouldn’t get if it were all done for you. by @waldorf_essentials

We'd love to have you and your family join us November 6 & 7 in Neptune Beach for our annual Waldorf gathering.

This year we are celebrating Martinmas together. 🏮

Friday night is for parents as we dive deeper into the meaning of this festival.

Saturday bring the whole family as we spend the day making lanterns, learning songs, eurythmy, enjoying a potluck and lastly walking a sunset lantern walk.
