Cabinetry doesn’t have to look like a row of boxes.

Grain-matched veneers create a continuous visual flow, while furniture-style legs and end columns give Wood-Mode cabinetry a more built-in, architectural presence. These details help the cabinetry feel designed for the room, not simply installed in it.

Happy Halloween from Waldron Designs! 🎃

Tonight, we’re all for cobwebs in the entryway and a few unexpected guests on the porch. Good lighting still matters, especially when you’re checking the candy bowl.

Wishing our Vashon neighbors and friends a fun evening, whether you’re out trick-or-treating or keeping the porch light on.

Ready to get in the permit queue? Your design decisions need to get there first.

Window placement, wall openings, and kitchen layouts affect how your home is engineered and documented. Changing them after plans are submitted can create more work than you bargained for.

In our latest blog, we explain what permit drawings need to communicate and why resolving the design first helps reduce avoidable revisions and costs.

A glass cabinet door can completely change the rhythm of a room.

Wood-Mode offers a range of glass options that can lighten a wall of cabinetry, display favorite pieces, or introduce texture without sacrificing storage. The right selection can feel subtle, architectural, or a little unexpected.

Which glass style would you choose?

More room for family doesn’t have to mean sharing every room.

Maybe a parent needs support nearby. Maybe your college student is ready for some independence. Or perhaps you’d like a smaller home while family moves into the main house.

An ADU could make those arrangements possible on the property you already own.

In our latest blog, we’re exploring ADUs and backyard cottages on Vashon Island, including what to check before building and how thoughtful design can make a smaller home work beautifully.

Learn all about Understory, our approach to predesigned homes and property planning, and explore what could come next for your land.

🌿 Bright and airy can still have color. Minimalism can still have personality. And the pieces you’ve collected deserve a place in your home.

We’re calling out a few design mistakes we see too often, from stripping away color to assuming new is always better.
Watch for the tips, then tell us: what’s one piece you’ll never part with?

A fireplace surround can look beautiful in a sample and feel completely different once it fills a wall.

Texture, scale, seams, and edge details all shape the result. So does its relationship to the windows, ceiling, and cabinetry around it.

Considering stone, porcelain, brick, or metal? Our latest blog walks through the design and practical questions to ask before choosing your fireplace surround.

Your house feels too small. But does it need more space, or a better layout?

An underused dining room might give your kitchen room to work. A dedicated office could give you your dining table back. And sometimes, an addition is the right way to make room without sacrificing spaces you still need.

Before choosing a direction, take a closer look at where everyday life gets frustrating. Those small observations can lead to better design decisions.

Open the drawer. The construction tells the story.

Dovetail joinery has long been valued for its strength and craftsmanship. In Wood-Mode cabinetry, it’s another example of quality extending beyond the surfaces you see first.

Because the inside of the cabinet should be as thoughtfully made as the outside.

“What if we took this wall out?”

It’s a familiar starting point for a renovation. You imagine more daylight and a kitchen that keeps you part of the conversation. But will that same layout work when someone’s cooking dinner and someone else needs a quiet place for a work call?

Open-concept, separate rooms, or something in between, each offers different benefits. The right choice starts with how you actually live.

Our latest blog explores what to consider before removing a wall, including what you might want to keep.

Read “Open-Concept vs. Closed Floor Plans: What Works for Your Home?” on our blog at waldrondesigns.com.

Which would you choose: an open kitchen or one you can close the door on?
