Today marks one year of Walk Beside Me!

And in honor of this special birthday, we’re kicking off Season 2, getting back into the swing of things after my very extended holiday break.

While I didn’t miss social media too much, I did miss compiling everything that God is teaching me through parenthood.

So we are back, now with episodes every other week instead of weekly.

Needless to say, life with two little girls is beyond busy and full. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

While the quantity of content might be taking a slight dip, I can promise the quality of upcoming episodes will be much improved thanks to my wonderful, wise, and witty husband, who will be joining me as often as possible from here on out.

I’m hoping that his input will not only allow for richer, more entertaining podcasting, but will also help other dads feel included in these important conversations.

If you wanna catch just a small taste of what’s to come, check out episode 42. Link in my bio!

In a world that can’t stand complexity, it can be easy to see our children’s missteps as disasters.

But when we embrace complexity as a natural part of learning, life magically becomes simpler. And that is the simplicity on the other side of complexity.

My relationship with God, myself, and my kids shifted when I realized…

I am just as flawed as everyone else.

I’m not special.

I’m not perfect.

And that is a GOOD thing.

Because that means I have abundant opportunities to learn, improve the quality of my life, and lean on Jesus.

Episode 46 is all about embracing complexity in life.

Realizing that the way to true freedom and simplicity is actually to accept the fact that life is complicated, mistakes are inevitable, and growth is what happens when we choose to learn from instead of resist it all.

As someone who loves a neat & tidy space, it can be tempting for me to think negatively about the way my house looks with two busy, beautiful, mess-making little girls in it.

But one thing that has helped me make peace with it all is seeing each mess as an opportunity to model.

If we never had any messes, my daughters probably wouldn’t be having much fun. AND they would also never have the chance to learn what it looks like to…

Organize a space

Steward a home

Take care of valuable things

Serve with a positive attitude

The list goes on…

Accepting the fact that life is full of messes—physical, emotional, spiritual, relational—has brought me so much peace and grounding as a parent.

I’ve realized that the messes are what life is all about. That is where we learn.

Be the change you wish to see in the world…or your kids.

We worry so much about our kids being spoiled when it reality, most adults are totally taking for granted the abundance of blessings we have in 2026.

I’m done ignoring all my luxuries just to focus on minor inconveniences. And I’m confident that this change in myself will do way more to help my kids become grateful than any lecture ever would.

We’re living like royalty.

But are we appreciating it?

How can we expect our kids to not be “spoiled” if we’re going about our days devoid of any gratitude for the crazy blessings we enjoy in the 21st century?

Maybe the best way to help our kids become “un-spoiled” is to practice gratitude so abundantly that we’re overflowing with it and they can’t help but catch on.
