What really made Ink the Block Party was the support of our neighbors and friends in the creative, hospitality, and nonprofit space. We have always believed that there is something special about the Norman arts scene and it is because we are so willing to work together! We’re bringing the festival back on September 19 on the 300 block of downtown Norman, Oklahoma! More details coming soon!

Just wanted to take a moment to shout out the businesses and the organizations that helped support us last year and how their contributions made the event possible.

————————

The arts market was hosted by @osc.press and the large scale woodblock printing using a steamroller came from the support of @silverstarconstruction and @normanfirehouse ! @grayowlcoffee helped through volunteering and providing their delicious coffee during the event! The mural zone was made possible by @novelandproper , @blondies_estatesales , and the Public Arts Committee of @normanarts ! Live music was sponsored and hosted by the @opolispix , @normandepot and @dj_sick_nick ! We had special guests from the @pioneerlibrarysystem with a pop up maker space, that featured laser cutters and hands on fabrication activities! We also had the pleasure of hosting a giant art inflatable by @ktduffyincorporated and the @ou_sova Arts, Technology, and Culture Program!

The following neighbors helped our guests stay fueled and refreshed throughout the event! Thank you all so much!

Uncanny Art House is hosting a poetry open mic during 2nd Friday Art Walk on July 10th, held in celebration of Every Cell, Lit Up; the collaborative poetry card set from Norman poet Crag Hill and visual artist spontaneous bob, with gracious support from Jennifer Burwell. Sign-ups begin at 7 PM.

Participating poets will read from the People’s Throne, one of the exhibition’s installation pieces, making the open mic a part of the show itself. All are welcome to read or simply listen.

Every Cell, Lit Up is an interactive set of 52 cards pairing Hill’s five-line poems with visual art by spontaneous bob. The card format invites readers to rearrange and explore the work in their own order.

The evening takes place within Sculpted Worlds, our current group exhibition featuring Nick Lillard, Chris McDaniel, Jennifer Burwell, Ken Hall, and Claire Holloway. Sculpted Worlds remains on view through August 2, 2026.

Free and open to the public

The newest issue of The Walk is here! 📖

A huge thank you to Uncanny Art House for another beautiful edition of this quarterly magazine celebrating the people, places, and stories that make the East Downtown Norman district so special. We’re especially honored to see our neighbors at Maximilian’s featured in this issue. 🍸

If you haven’t explored EDO lately, consider this your sign. From unique gifts and local art to great food, cocktails, and community events, there’s always something worth discovering.

And if you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift or planning ahead for this weekend, don’t forget our Native Plant Pop-Up is happening this Saturday (the 20th) from 10 AM–3 PM with local growers, pollinator-friendly plants, herbs, grasses, and more. 🌿🦋

Stop by, pick up a copy of The Walk, and spend some time exploring all that EDO has to offer. 💙

Join us for the FIRST ever Walker Arts District Photographer Meet Up on Monday, May 11th, starting at 6PM.

All levels and camera types welcome! Yes, you can use your phone.

For this first meeting, we will gather at Uncanny Art House located at 106 E Main Street in Norman. After introductions, at roughly 6:15PM, as a group we will head out to take photos on Main Street.

Everyone who wants to participate in Color Hunting, will be assigned a color (completely optional). Color hunting is a popular trend that’s easy to grasp: you head out with the goal of finding a specific color and making it the focal point of your photos.

Feel free to bring the equipment you’d like to use (flash, tripod, etc), but you will be solely responsible for what you bring.

Models are welcome to join as well, but will have to sign a release and will not be guaranteed images in return.

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by their guardian.
