Saw this perfectly placed jelly fish & seaweed on the beach - it looks very floral 🌸. I’ve been back in Bristol for less than a month, & how I miss the wild open spaces & incredible warmth of the island communities.

I’m planning next year’s trip already, but I’ve started watching the Shetland crime drama series, & have to admit I’m tempted. Food for thought but Hebcelt’s very very tempting too for next year 😉.

The walk over from #huisinis beach to Traigh Mheilein is stunning 💙. Steep at times & if like me you fall over fresh air, a walking pole can be helpful (especially if you’re not a fan of heights 😉). But the path’s a lot better than it was last year, & volunteers were working on it while I was there.

They’ve filled in some of the gaps between the bigger boulder ‘steps’, so there’s no so far to stretch your legs, and they’ve added in stepping stones on some of the boggier areas. It can’t be easy making a path on that terrain but they did a brilliant job, & I definitely noticed the difference from last year 👌🏻

Thought I’d post a quirky angle - no filter or add on lens used - just me playing with turning my phone upside down so the lens is at the bottom instead of the top 👌🏻.

On another very hot day in Bristol, I’m definitely missing the cool breeze walking over from Huisinis beach to the other beautiful beaches and lochs.

2 days back & I miss the gentle quiet, the beautiful views, the lovely chats & friendly ‘good mornings’ that I enjoyed each day. Love you OH 💙

You’ll see Kisimul Castle on the small island off Castlebay. Also known as Kiessimul Castle, it’s a medieval castle which gets its name from the Norse ciosamul, meaning "castle island".

Unfortunately it’s closed at the moment so I couldn’t go & see it, but maybe next time I’m over 😀

I can’t think of a more stunning location to have an airport runway! The whole experience of taking off from Barra beach was brilliant. Next time hopefully I’ll experience what it’s like to land on the beach too 😉

This Vatersay beach shot was taken on Tuesday (before the sunshine arrived on Wednesday). It was quite overcast but come rain or shine, the colour of that water gets me every time 😍

Such a pretty walk today over to the south side of Vatersay. These ruined houses were surrounded by cows, so I took the long way round instead (to the left of the photo), to get a better look at the beautiful turquoise water/beach.

And ended up stuck knee deep in mud 😳. Luckily it was just one leg, but it was pretty scary as it took a good 5 minutes to get free & no one else was around for miles - that mud was hanging onto me for dear life!

Moral of the story, don’t be like Bev - if it even vaguely looks boggy, it probably is, so don’t put so much as a toe onto it! 😂

Alas no Mingulay tour for me today - darn sea swells 🥲. So today I’m going to visit the beautiful Vatersay again. Yesterday I stuck to the main beaches by the community centre, but today, I’m exploring the south side & the uninhabited village ruins.
