Cancer is sometimes referred to as the “family disease”. Approximately 2.85 million children under the age of 18 live with a parent affected by cancer. The disruption of schedules and daily routines, shifting of household roles, financial stress, and the physical and emotional availability of either parent all contribute to these emotional and behavioral problems. Walk With Sally is here to lessen that burden. ⁠

We're excited to host our @walkwithsally 'Heart to Home' workshop at @rsn_lab on March 2nd!!

We've been working with Walk With Sally for 6 years running and are proud to have a continuous partnership with such a stand up organization.

When Boston Acevedo was just 8 months old he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a devastating childhood cancer. At an age when most babies are learning to crawl and giggle, Boston underwent 14 rounds of chemotherapy and was battling constant nausea, weight loss, and the loss of his newly sprouted baby hair.

His parents, Scarlett and Mario found themselves facing an unimaginable reality. Scarlett had to leave her job to care for Boston full-time, while Mario reduced his work hours to support their two older children, Maycah and Dan. Like most parents navigating cancer, their world became one of hospital stays, sleepless nights, and the emotional and financial strain of navigating a life consumed by the trauma that comes with cancer.

After 14 months of successful chemotherapy, Walk With Sally was thrilled to celebrate that Boston was cancer free, by facilitating a trip to Disneyland alongside the Sweet Geeks Foundation.

This morning, Scarlett shared news that no parent should ever have to hear once, let alone twice: Boston’s cancer is back.

Now at just 2 years old, Boston has a tumor growing between his ear and eye, in a location too critical for surgery. The family is once again at the hospital, awaiting a new plan of action, and Boston will soon begin another round of chemotherapy.

Walk With Sally exists to provide hope, support, and resources to families like Boston’s, who are living through the unimaginable.

Right now, Scarlett and Mario are working tirelessly while navigating long hospital stays and treatments, all while balancing jobs and the needs of their other two children. To help ease their burden, Walk With Sally is asking for donations of pre-prepared meals or gift cards for the Acevedo family. A warm meal can provide so much more than nourishment—it’s a moment of relief and a reminder that they are not alone as they navigate the painful path ahead. Join us in walking alongside them and ensuring they feel the power and hope that comes with knowing there is a community that is standing strong alongside them.

💔 Born and raised in LA and a proud @pepperdine alum, this city is my heart, my community, my life. Seeing so many friends and family lose their homes and possessions has left me without words—my heart is broken, but my focus is on helping.

Through the @whoisshewearing Emergency Fire Fund, we’re sending clothing, accessories, masks, non-perishable food, and medical supplies to those in need.

This event holds such a special place in my heart. Since my #thyroidcancer diagnosis in 2021, I’ve been deeply committed to helping families impacted by cancer. Together, we raised critical funds to provide meals, gifts, and a little extra holiday magic to children and families who need it most.
