You are cordially invited to our
upcoming activations at Walnut Well⭐️

On Oct 16th starting at 6pm we host the exhibition
"Äther Exercise" by Albert Mayr followed by the screening program orbit "Into the Well, Concrete Horizon" at 8:30pm curated by Rio Usui.

ALBERT MAYR
Äther Exercise

Fr. 16.10.2026, 6pm

Albert Mayr works at the intersection of sound, installation, and media art. In his multimedia, often performative works, he investigates the relationships between sound, space, and embodied perception, creating open systems in which meaning emerges through the relation between vibration, object, and visitor. His starting points are often everyday objects, which he transforms through minimal, deliberate shifts into sonic and spatial situations. Rather than producing closed objects, he establishes dynamic fields of experience in which sound operates as an invisible yet decisive force organizing space and shaping its atmosphere.

Albert Mayr (b. 1975) is a Vienna-based artist working at the intersection of sound, installation and media art. He studied graphic design at Höhere Graphische Bundes-Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Vienna and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Peter Kogler.

Among his notable solo exhibitions are Air Condition (Tkalka Gallery, Maribor, 2026), LISTEN TO THE PICTURES (MARTINETZ, Cologne, 2023), MO Kunstpreis (Museum Ostwall, Dortmund, 2017), Orchestrated View (Neuer Kunstverein Wien, 2016) and The Jonny Hawaii Orchester (Künstlerhaus Graz, 2010)

He has also participated in projects such as Genèse d’un Repas (Lichtekooi Artspace, Antwerp, 2025), Spring (Museumsquartier Wien, 2025), Sägezahn (Schauspielhaus Wien, 2023) OOrtreders Festival (Pelt, 2022) and DREAM MACHINE 3000 (Donaufestival, Krems, 2022).

🌱Upcoming orbit screening:

The screening concept takes the well as a starting point, thinking through its vertical and horizontal associations. Vertically, it considers the well as a space of depth, descent, and looking inward. Horizontally, it follows the concrete surface of a well, on the former Nuss Brunnen Feld, and the flow of water extending toward the port, the sea, and the horizon beyond.

The works in the program engage with these relationships through different distances between the body, nature, objects, and architecture, as well as through different ways of looking and sensing space. The screening will take place within the space of Walnut Well itself, so the site and its architectural surfaces will also become part of the viewing experience.

orbit is an international and interdisciplinary platform for exhibition and publication, extending across conversations, interviews, research, and other forms of exchange, founded and directed by Rio Usui.
From autumn 2026, orbit will be hosted by Walnut Well, where it will develop and present a series of activations and cultural events.

by @gbsternwien
Gastgebgasse 4 - 8

Through performative sculpture, artist Hanako Geierhos interrogates the status of public, private and social space, as well as the significance of objects and images in the emergence of new forms of communication and social relationships.

Her concept of *Écarts*—"intervals"—is based on a term developed by the French philosopher and sinologist François Jullien; it is precisely these intervals—maintained between ourselves and others, or between one culture and another—that bring the "common" to light.
