the older i get, the bigger my bags get. nobody warned me about this. my medium & large rotation, in order: 1. loewe puzzle, large grey — the workhorse 2. lv × yayoi kusama sac plat — artpiece, zero regrets 3. gucci interlocking g web tote — weekends only 4. saint laurent sac de jour duffle — the "i have meetings" travel bag 5. songmont drippy tote, olive suede — softest thing i own 6. tad fabb foldie tote, grey calfskin — the slouchy one 7. songmont shan hobo — the one i reach for lately some are practical. some exist purely for the outfit. you can probably tell which. and these aren't even the small ones. those are next. send this to the man in your life still carrying a backpack to dinner. which number are you stealing? 👇 @loewe @louisvuitton @gucci @ysl @songmont_official @tadfab_official #mensbags #mensbagcollection #mensstyle by @waltertan
designing a bathroom is a lot more complicated than picking pretty tiles. i've always liked spaces that feel a little unexpected. instead of matching everything perfectly, i wanted to experiment with contrasting materials, textures and colours that somehow still make sense together. smaller mosaic tiles have been making their way back into contemporary interiors, and i love how they introduce more texture and detail into a space. i also came up with the idea of using pink grout lines instead of the usual white or grey. it's a small detail, but grout colour can completely change how a tile reads, turning something functional into part of the design. i had a pretty specific creative vision for both bathrooms, from the material combinations down to the smallest details. after discussing the ideas and technical considerations with Sam from @imagecreativedesign, we locked in the direction. he's also managing the entire renovation overhaul, which involves translating all these creative decisions into something that actually works in a real home. a few things i've learnt along the way: 01 / mix textures, not just colours. glossy mosaics, natural stone textures, matte surfaces and brushed gunmetal finishes create depth without needing everything to match. 02 / grout is part of the design. especially with smaller tiles, grout becomes a much more visible element. changing its colour can completely transform the overall look, and sometimes the smallest detail makes the biggest difference. 03 / choose your sanitary fittings early. the gunmetal shower fittings, wall-hung toilet and automated bidet seat from @rigelglobal need to be planned alongside plumbing, concealed cisterns and electrical provisions before the walls are finished. 04 / what's underneath matters just as much. we decided to hack and redo the waterproofing. it's an additional cost, but a waterproofing failure years later could mean hacking up your beautiful tiles again, repairing water seepage and potentially dealing with damage to the adjoining bedroom. not exactly the kind of renovation i'd want to repeat. 05 / good design still needs to be practical. from selecting tiles at @hafary to incorporating by @waltertan

ok so i'm renovating my new home in singapore, and i'm documenting all of it. ep 01. (there is now a spreadsheet. there is a lot of spreadsheet.) i designed the whole thing with AI first because i'm impatient and needed to see it. now it actually has to become real, which feels very different. excited. also scared. mostly i just want to come home to it with a bit of magical touch, interior design advice and project management from @imagecreativedesign. you have to ask for Sam! (ill tell you more in my igs next time and you will be convinced it is so rare to come across a capable and good ID, and i stand by my words.) full ep on youtube soon, i want yall to see tbjs first. save this and check back in a few months to see if i survive. #singaporerenovation #condorenovation #homerenovation #interiordesignsingapore #aiinteriordesign by @waltertan
i never thought i'd feel this sad leaving a life i worked so hard to build. as i'm typing this, i'm spending my first night away from the first home i ever owned. i remember being 21, dreaming of having a place i could call my own. it was the one thing i wanted more than anything. and for years, it was the dream that kept me going. i don't think many people will ever know how hard i worked behind the scenes, building a creative agency from scratch. the late nights, the sacrifices, the uncertainty of whether any of it would work out. and the truth is, it all started from survival. i just wanted to build a life where i could finally feel secure. where i could have something that was mine. by 30, i finally did it. it wasn't a big apartment. it wasn't anything extravagant. but every little corner of that home meant so much to me because i knew exactly what it took to get there. today, as i packed up the last of my things, i found myself sitting in the almost empty apartment, feeling a kind of sadness i wasn't prepared for. it's funny how we spend so much of our lives chasing the next thing, only to realise one day that we're living in something we used to dream about. and sometimes we're so busy moving forward that we forget to appreciate how far we've already come. i guess growing up is realising you can be excited for what's next and still grieve what you're leaving behind. i know i'm incredibly lucky to be starting another chapter. but a part of me wishes i could go back, just for a moment, to the day i first got my keys. to tell my younger self that we made it. and maybe to remind myself to slow down a little more this time. thank you for everything, my first little home. 🤍 here's to chapter two, building another dream home, and figuring out life all over again. by @waltertan

The devil is in the details. What if I reimagined Raffles City's 40th anniversary through the lens of a fashion editorial? Every element in this visual was intentional. The metallic backdrop takes inspiration from Raffles City's architectural facade, while the red spheres reinterpret the iconic red circle from its logo. Rather than placing a logo onto an image, I wanted to explore how a brand's identity could become the world itself. From the styling and composition to the lighting, textures and smallest details, this is how I imagine fashion, architecture and brand storytelling coming together. Featuring Mei from @assemblyclan, a character I've been developing and art directing, this is a little glimpse into how I approach creative direction and worldbuilding, where even the most familiar brand elements can take on an entirely new life. A personal creative exploration by Walter Tan. Not an official Raffles City campaign visual. Visual Artist: Walter Tan Stylist and HMU: Walter Tan Model: Mei, @assemblyclan by @waltertan
