“Notes and Sounds” at University Arms on Monday 26th Oct at 7-30 pm
197, Brook Hill, Broomhall, Sheffield. S3 7HG
The duo of John Jasnoch ( guitar, mandolin, oud ) and Derek Saw (bass tuba, flugelhorn )
This set is an unusual combination of 2 instruments and will be fascinating.
The other set is - “WolfRabbit”, who are Jonny Hill, Lorin Halsall, Mitzy Valentine, and Walt Shaw, from the Nottingham / Derby area.
We are not sure which we are, moving back and forth from wolf to rabbit continuously.
We pull an expected rabbit out of the hat only to find a wolf, so we thrive on that surprise, and we actually use and shape that.
Enabling this quantum enigma we all use electronics and each of us an acoustic instrument, each integrating the two.
Jonny – Sax Lorin- Double bass Mitzy – Voice, flute, theremin Walt- Electronics with objects, percussion
Expect not to quite know who is playing what, when or how, as the wolf chases the rabbit and the rabbit the wolf.
We immerse ourselves in the wash from jazz, rock, doom, improv, drone and the downright uncanny.
The drawing is 'WolfRabbit'. See less by @waltshawart

I am showing some of my work at the Melbourne Art Trail this Saturday and Sunday ( the 19th & 20th Sept ). You can find my stall in Wesley Hall ( the back room ) from 10 am to 5 pm either day. It would be great to see some of you for a chat and a look at my work up close. I am delighted for an opportunity to talk about my art and why I do it and answer any questions. All the work is up for sale at very reasonable prices by the way. Wesley Hall is in Potter Street, DE73 8DW. The piece shown is "Surroundings". Hope to see you there. by @waltshawart
