I had the Fall River to myself for an hour. Then Edmund arrived, gave me room, and offered four words: “Get your fly wet.” The next cast brought this redband to the net. In March, when I first started fly fishing, this river handed me my first total skunk on a fly rod. Then it did it again. And again.
I set a goal back then that I wouldn’t let summer end without landing a fish here.
Last night, on the final evening of summer, the River came through with four in the net.
Couldn’t ask for a better send-off to summer or a better welcome into fall. 🧡
