POSTS STORIES REELS

What a young girl goes through can stay with her for a lifetime. I can attest to that.

When a child is sexually assaulted and abused on that level, she isn’t just experiencing what is happening in that moment. She can be left with a lifetime sentence of trauma that she never asked for.

No one can truly understand the full extent of what that kind of trauma can do to a person throughout their life. How it can affect their confidence, relationships, sense of safety, trust, self-worth, and the way they see themselves.

Some wounds are invisible, but they are very real.

This is why we need to listen. We need to believe survivors. We need to understand that healing is not a straight line.

And most importantly, we need to stop asking survivors why they haven’t “just moved on.”

Never underestimate the power of your voice and the impact of your message. Realizing my purpose and my ability to inspire, uplift, and empower others to speak out has been the most rewarding feeling 🙏🏽

These photos were taken over two years ago at the White House, and they hold a very special place in my heart.

My cousin who everyone knows is my ride or die was my perfect accompanying guest that day. As her and I were sharing one of those surreal, unforgettable moments as we waited for my dear friend @kamalaharris to arrive for what would become a truly memorable luncheon. It was one of those experiences that reminds you just how extraordinary life can be. And how an ordinary friendship became an extraordinary life changing friendship for my friend Kamala and I both. And so my cousin snapped a few pics of me, one of the rare times I was allowed to keep my phone.

I’ve never shared some of these photos before because I’m a rule follower, and I later learned that photographs weren’t permitted in that room. But since wings have since been torn down, I felt it was finally time to share some of these treasured memories.

What made that day so meaningful wasn’t just where I was, it was who I was with. My friend has always made people feel seen, valued, capable, and empowered. She has always made me feel as special, intelligent, and inspired as she is herself being the first black female Vice President of the United States.

I will forever cherish that day and our memories……and the conversations🙏🏽🫶🏽

Can’t wait for the 10th Anniversary Show in 2027! by @wandakagan

I had the pleasure of attending an amazing event this past weekend, @villes.sans.violence (City Without Violence)!

When I accepted the invitation from a wonderful woman @fabngo2 who reached out to me through social media, someone I had never met before, I had no idea just how much I would take away from that day and conversations.

There is something so powerful about bringing people together through shared stories, lived experiences, and a common purpose.

Sharing your story, the wins, the losses, the pain, and the joy is all part of the journey toward healing. Sometimes, the very things we’ve been through become the words that someone else needs to hear.

I didn’t go into this event intending to speak, but I left feeling so overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude. To know that I was able to touch the hearts of so many people in that room and inspire them toward one common goal was truly moving.

VILLE SANS VIOLENCE. A CITY WITHOUT VIOLENCE.

Because healing begins with conversations, change begins with courage, and sometimes, sharing your story can be the beginning of someone else’s healing.

My heart is full. Thank you @fabngo2 @mavroselyne for the invitation, the warmth, and the opportunity to be part of something so meaningful.

Elle Shine is a very special project, near and dear to my heart.

@elle_shine_org is an organization I proudly support because of the incredible work they do to provide safe spaces, support, and programs for abused women.

The initial launch was planned for this month, but it has now been moved to October 25, 2026.

When @lucika.jean asked me to be part of this project, I didn’t hesitate. I said YES because I will always show up and show out for my community.

When something aligns with my heart and my purpose, I’m there. This is about community, support, creating safe spaces, and reminding women that they are not alone.🙏🏽💗 by @wandakagan

Wanda Kagan met Kamala Harris at a Black community cultural event in Montreal. Both were in their young teens, and they quickly bonded over their similarities: They were smart, outgoing, and serious students. They were both biracial. And they were both working to fit into a large new school environment. But for all the good times they shared, Wanda was secretly struggling at home. On this International Recovery Day, I find myself reflecting on a time in my life when I was rescued from a sexually and physically abusive situation by my friend @kamalaharris and my journey of healing and recovery over the years.

Sometimes, the people we know and love are suffering in silence. They may not know how to ask for help, or they may be afraid to speak.

If you see something, say something. If someone tells you, listen and believe. Sometimes one person stepping in can change the course of someone’s life.

I know this because I lived it.

To every survivor: you are not alone. Your story matters. Your voice matters. And there is life after what happened to you.

Thank you again @people for this feature. https://www.instagram.com/wandakagan/links/

Just another day doing the work, finding my truth, and turning pain into purpose. Sharing, caring, and walking alongside survivors on the journey toward healing and hope. by @wandakagan

Sometimes you walk into an event thinking you’re there to support others, and you leave realizing they have inspired and strengthened you too.

The team @morethanacure , founder @tammy__gafoor, and all of these incredible warriors were exactly what I needed.

Seeing these women and hearing about the battles they have fought truly puts life into perspective. It reminds you that what we do for others matters ……. sometimes we can’t take away their battle, but we can help make their journey a little easier.

What makes this event so meaningful is that 100% of the proceeds go directly toward supporting women battling breast cancer. The impact goes far beyond one evening; it’s a reminder to women going through one of the hardest battles of their lives that they are not alone.

And the impact isn’t only felt by the women receiving the support. It touches everyone in the room. The warriors, the volunteers, the supporters, the families, and everyone who comes together for this cause.

The people, the event, the love, the energy and dear, dear Tammy…..have brought so much joy and meaning to everyone involved.

I’m so grateful I got to be part of it. 💕 by @wandakagan
