Curious kids deserve better books.
High-agency adults deserve better retreats.
Building both 🤙🏻

I assumed running a publishing house meant designing the best books. I was wrong.

A great product means nothing if it doesn't land on the right table. So I became the person who carries it there.

For the last few years I've been doing sales trips and honestly, they've become my favorite part of this work.

My favourite part is not the view or the conversation with teachers but understanding new geographies, getting tea with booksellers, roaming unfamiliar roads and meeting old friends.

This is what my week in Nagaland looked like. 📚🚀 by @wandercurls

We adopted two cutiesssss today. Well sort of…..And it’s the best kind of sort of. Swipe to meeet them 🐶🎀✨

The world is messed up and we can’t fix everything. But we can show up for something and help those who are working hard to fix things. @earthlings_trust for doing the work you do!

@neil.chatt and I can’t wait to meet them every weekend we can 🥹 by @wandercurls

Went on a treasure hunt trail run in the forest as a trial run for Borneo trails last Sunday ✨🌿🏃‍♀️💨

Woke up at 4am, met the group (awestruck by a 78 year old runner in the group), ran for 3hr, ate a 100 cobwebs, got lost for an hour finding stairs and hilltops and made new friends and loooked so cute haha 😅🫠☠️

Thanks @capitaltrails.in for creating such an incredible trail experience….cant wait to do this againnn with @nainaprakash without whom I’d never be able to navigate the forest 🫶🏻 by @wandercurls

Whimsy in progress 🪐✨🌿🦄🌼🌈

Here’s a little sneak peak of the experience we are building for the launch of our first bundle about feelings! It’s going to be a fun exploration and I can’t wait to share this. by @wandercurls

Don’t just create the things you wish existed.
Create them with 🔥

The world needs more people who care embarrassingly much about the thing they create.

It’s cliched maybe but stubborn building in a world obsessed with a new toy everyday is the most countercultural thing you can do right now.

This a note to self but also a sign for anyone standing on the curb.

I’m building a children’s book imprint and hosting endurance sport retreats…all while managing an existing educational publishing house. Every few days it feels like a bad idea, people say no, product timelines are missed, there is self doubt and exhaustion that you can’t always share because you chose this and that’s okay!

On those days I often go back to small moments, like when I was 15 and my dad would recite his favourite poem….i know it by heart haha 🥲🫠 by @wandercurls

Leave it to social media to destroy the sanctity of things! 😑

The 52 books a year trend has turned reading into consumption ☹️ but reading is not a sport, it’s allowing someone else to rearrange your thinking for a while.

The purpose is destroyed when you try to optimise.

Even if you read just a book, allow it to move you, change your world view. Don’t give into the race, dig a hole and sit in it.
Nothing good ever comes fast.

And honestly even as a publisher, I’ve never believed in flooding students with more and more books. Our catalog is comparatively smaller than all our competitors and that’s because I don’t think quantity helps. Pushing students to go through more books does nothing for their understanding.

In a world where AI can summarize everything instantly, the ability to consume mindfully(slowly and deeply) and think deeply is going to be sacrosanct. by @wandercurls

You can draw endless analogies from growing a garden.

Many years ago I read this in The Hidden Life of Trees (10000% recommend it for anyone who wants some whimsy in life because the world of trees is so fucking fascinating) that scientists discovered slow growth when a tree is young is often what allows it to live a long, healthy life…and honestly it changed how I look at my life.

8 years ago at BHXproject in Leh, someone asked me what chapter of life I was in and I said “a seedling.”

I felt quite lost, and exhausted from being directionless. It felt like I was stuck underground while everyone else had already bloomed. This analogy got me through that chapter ✨

I think the chapter now is “small sprout”🌱 Still figuring things out but at least I’ve broken through the soil and know which direction I’m growing in.

Our lives in cities has made everything fast, convenient and frictionless and with AI it’s getting even more optimised. I am not saying it’s bad thing, but it’s definitely far from what our human experience should be.

If you feel restless, lost and in need of a new perspective in life, get a pot, a seed, a corner with sunlight, and learn to watch something grow slowly alongside you. If you have a kid, help them grow and look after a plant (it’s what my mom’s being doing btw)

LIFE F**KING CHANGING. by @wandercurls

Before you write a book and search for a self publishing company, STOPPP and ask your self if that’s the right path!!!

I have lost track of how many times I have stopped people from rushing into publishing because that’s the easiest part, the important parts come way before printing.

This roadmap by Kevin Kelly is simple way to check if you’re ready and what path makes the best sense for you and your book!

Happy writing 💛✍️📝✨ by @wandercurls

I don’t have all the answers. But I do know this:
the future will belong to people who can still think deeply, focus quietly, and learn without constant stimulation.

That’s partly why I’m still building books in the age of AI.

Not because nothing is changing.
But because everything is.

I don’t know what the future looks like but I do you think that these 5 things will survives the next 20 years of education.

What’s your thought? 💭 🫠📚 by @wandercurls
