Sometimes the obvious shot isn’t the best shot … I actually prefer the first image over the more famous one from my last visit to @durdledoor_official . If you don’t mind the hike back up to the top the hike down is well worth the effort ! This shot is looking from Dawlish Warren toward Dawlish, capturing that peaceful curve of beach, rugged rocks, and the iconic red cliffs that make this stretch of coastline so unique. 🧡 If you’ve never been, Dawlish Warren is a real gem — a Blue Flag beach, a protected nature reserve, and a haven for coastal walks, wildlife spotting, and of course, photography. 🌊 A Different Perspective of Ilfracombe 🌊 Yesterday’s post gave you the land-side view… but today, we’re setting sail (well, sort of) and soaking up the scene from the sea! 🚤💦 That towering figure? She’s Verity – a striking 66-foot bronze statue by Damien Hirst, holding aloft a sword as she guards Ilfracombe Harbour. From this angle, she’s even more commanding against the backdrop of the hilltop chapel of St Nicholas, which has watched over seafarers since the 14th century. ⛪⚓ I love how the water transforms the whole feel of the place – same landmarks, whole new mood.
