A bonnet macaque and its baby 🐒 these troublemakers are everywhere in Hampi, usually plotting their next snack heist. If you’re not paying attention, they’ll steal your sunglasses, water bottle, or anything that looks remotely interesting 🙃

Fun fact: Bonnet macaques are highly social and live in groups with strict hierarchies. The dominant females call the shots, while the younger ones learn the art of mischief from an early age.

A Female Jaguar 🐆🌿

For two years, I set up a DSLR trap camera around Merazonia, experimenting with different spots to capture wildlife. My ultimate goal? A Jaguar 🐆

Early on, I got lucky with a Puma. The shots weren’t perfect—slightly out of focus and poorly framed - but seeing such a powerful animal near where we all slept was incredible.

Fast forward a year, and I found the perfect spot: a fallen tree creating a natural tunnel animals had to pass through. Two weeks later, I checked the camera and couldn’t believe my eyes—there she was, a stunning female Jaguar 🐆 I’ve never been more excited about a shot in my life.

Even cooler? After comparing her unique markings to other trap camera images, we realized she’s the same Jaguar we’ve spotted before near Merazonia!

Jaguars are a sign of a thriving rainforest 🌴 As apex predators, they play a vital role in keeping the ecosystem balanced. Knowing she’s out there is a reminder of why we need to protect these wild places. Thank you Merazonia for protecting this special place and giving these big cats a place to thrive!

I been thinking a lot about this transition from C.Ruth to Umbrella Boy.

My pops was shot when I was younger, and a few years later I lost my dear mom too and trust me it was rough, and it still is some days. One of the things I’ve always held onto is an old picture of my mom (Ruth) smiling while holding an umbrella. That image became a quiet reminder of her, a way to honour her memory, her values, her virtue and over time its eventually become the driving force behind Umbrella Boy.

Shoutout @wanderingstew fr for capturing this photo/moment. The first time he photographed me, I had just one braid in my hair. A few years later, here I am with a whole lot more. Feels like a little full circle moment.

And thats really what this whole thing is about for me, not perfection, but momentum. Being sincerely grateful for the people, experiences, losses and lessons that got me here, and just continuing to move forward.

Red Dead Redemption Infinity my new tune, the first release under my new artist name Umbrella Boy, comes out October 2, and the lyrics pull a lot of these pieces together, where I’ve been, what I’ve lost, what I’ve learned and where I’m going.

I’m truly grateful to everyone who’s come to the shows and shared these moments with me. There are even more shows coming, and I hope more of you can make it out and experience it with us.
