I’m a sucker for Chai latte so I come to this place called “Chai Bar”, a mere 5 minutes from my house. Over time I noticed more people coming in & lots of new baristas helping. Then someone says “Hi Carmen, nice to see you today”. Then we ended up chatting. It’s the cafe’s owner. I didn’t expect he would know my name and I’m kinda embarrassed I don’t know his. I must really come here more times than I know😆#localcafes #chairbar #palmdesertlife #coffeequeen👑☕️#chaiqueen🖤💜 by @wanderlustandtrails

When your appliances perfectly match your new kitchen. Finally able to put my things back to where they belong instead of under the covers & all over the place! Looks promising‼️🙏🏼❤️ #homerenovationideas #homerenovationdiaries #cleaningordeal #likethedayimovedin #smeg50style by @wanderlustandtrails

26.2 years in Surgery, 16 spent traveling the country as far as Alaska. (15 permanent & 52 temporary addresses). One I will NEVER regret. That life was ONE OF A KIND. I’ve grown both personally & professionally, gained confidence & independence, made lasting friendships, experienced things I will always talk about for yrs. That career also afforded me the TIME & MEANS to do what I want, Travel & see the World. In my mind (always has been my philosophy), I wasn’t born & placed on Earth to work for one organization or dedicate my life to 1 place which might not even appreciate my Loyalty. I was born to explore, continue learning, to experience wonderful things. And Travel Nursing was exactly that. I’ve had FT jobs (OR) before. One was 6 yrs (mostly because I was taking care of my parents), the other 2 lasted 1.5-2 yrs. I trained at Harper University in Detroit, stayed 2 yrs until Politics got to me. I’ve worked in at least 50 ORs, big & small, urban, city & small towns. As big as 27 ORs to small as 2 ORs. Some very challenging as level 1 trauma, cancer research, stem cell & transplant centers, to easy as Surgery centers (but still hard work). I’ve also done all Specialties (some I don’t do anymore like Cardiovascular & Transplants because of too much “call”) including Pediatrics. I decided to go back to that 6 yr FT job, the hospital where I was honored with a Daisy Award💕. Was an “easier” decision since I already have a place in the area which I kept as a home base while traveling. (But while most will choose an easy OR few yrs into retirement, somehow I picked a level 1 trauma, never a dull moment🤔). My friends weren’t sure if I’d stick around, predicted 6 mos😂. One said if I last a year, she’ll have a surprise for me🤣. Rightfully so, coz I did 3 attempts at a FT job & lasted 5 mos each. This week I celebrated my 1st yr at the current job & proved them wrong (tho not on my agenda, if I don’t like it, I have tons of options). So I broke the spell….or curse??😂 Here’s to more years, one year at a time! Or maybe 6 mos @ a time? 🤣😆🙊😝🤔☺️🙏🏼#whatdoesntkillyoumakesyoustronger🤣 #fulltimejoblife #anniversary #surgerylife😷✂️✂️🏨 #lifechoicesmatter by @wanderlustandtrails

Before I started by #homerenovationproject I had a specific budget in mind. But I must have done well with picking my contractors (I have a total of 7) because I ended up with a lot of “wiggle room” that I was even able to finish my garage with epoxy floors + paint the ceiling (orig plan was just paint the walls & add cabinets). I was also able to add window shutters in the mix! And I’m very glad I did! If you’re planning on doing a home project, I highly recommend adding window shutters. Not only are they clean looking, easy to manage (I used to have to fight with my blinds that get tangled all the time) & immediately elevates the look of your space! #decorinspo #homesweethome #shadeswestpalmdesert #elevatesanyspace by @wanderlustandtrails

Last June, I was fortunate to have met some of climbing’s and mountaineering’s “greats”. From Jimmy Chin (the man behind “Meru”, “Nyad” & “Free Solo”) to Jim Morrison, both men are responsible for the film “Everest, the Other Side” showing on Oct 30 (can’t wait!), to Alex Honnold (the subject of “Free Solo”. During the Masterclass, Jimmy mentioned his upcoming book. Today I got my own signed copy of his book “Rules to Live By”, based on his conversations with some inspiring people like Alex Honnold, Ridley Scott, Kelly Slater, Annette Bening (star of “Nyad”), just to name a few. Check it out! #rulestoliveby #inspiringpeople #mountaineeringcommunity by @wanderlustandtrails

A classic case of “Things don’t always turn out the way you planned, sometimes they turn out better!”🤔. Wanted a porcelain sink instead of the usual stainless steel (I also get shocks from it). But I didn’t plan on buying a gray sink😆. It used to bother me for the first few days & changing it would cost me at least $2000. So I decided to keep it & now it’s one of the highlights of my new kitchen giving it more depth and a beautiful contrast with the gold faucet. I’m also just finding out there’s a “gray sink trend” going on😂☺️💕 #beautifulmistake #houserenovations #homeprojects #designinspo #interiørdesign by @wanderlustandtrails

Chris Daughtry….one of my favorite “American Idols”. A native of North Carolina. Coincidentally I was also working in Raleigh, NC when he was a contestant on American Idol. I remember my coworkers disappointed saying they don’t believe in American Idol anymore when he got voted off the show. This was in 2005. 20 years later, he’s still making music. And still sounds wonderful!! #rockmusic #rockconcert #daughtry #americanidol by @wanderlustandtrails
